Sorry bout that,

1. But it seems that I have found one family who is draining Mexico, and in so doing sending America its off shoots.
2. He intends to make all the money in Mexico, and pile it into one pile.
3. This kind of greed is sickening.
4. Folks like this, are why money has a bad name in some circles.
5. It is the root of all evil in this situation.
6. Better he were a farmer on a half acre.

Mexican magnate becomes world's second richest man

A Mexican telecoms tycoon has become the second richest man in the world, pushing US investment guru Warren Buffett into third place and breathing down the neck of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
Carlos Slim Helu quietly slipped past Buffett at the end of last month thanks to his rising stock, and was valued at the close of trade Wednesday at 53.1 billion dollars, 700 million dollars more than Buffett, Forbes.com reported Wednesday.

Now only Gates, valued as the richest man in the world for the last 13 years, is ahead of Slim.

And while slim may be catching up, Gates, who stepped aside as Microsoft chief in 2000 to devote his energies to the philanthropic foundation he runs with his wife Melinda, is still sitting on a nest egg of 56 billion dollars.

Slim, 67, has added a staggering 23 billion dollars to his personal fortune over the last 14 months, thanks largely to a strong Mexican economy and a stock market that jumped nearly 50 percent last year.

He accrued four billion dollars of that just since Forbes unveiled its annual rich list in early March, giving Slim the equivalent of roughly seven percent of Mexico's annual economic output, according to Forbes.

The tycoon has brushed off criticism that his Telmex company is effectively a monopoly, saying earlier this year: "When you live for others' opinions, you are dead. I don't want to live thinking about how I'll be remembered."

He has derided Gates and Buffett for giving away so much of their wealth, reportedly saying: "Poverty isn't solved with donations," according to Forbes.

Building businesses, he reportedly said, did more for society than "going around like Santa Claus."

So Gates and Buffett are allowed to be rich but Carlos Slim Helu isn't?

Sorry bout that,

1. For where much is given much is expected.
2. Slim is fat on money.
3. One mans wealth, is a third worlds shame.
4. That *Great Sucking Sound* was slim.
5. At what point while gathering billions, does it have to lose its meaning?
6. At 500 million.
7. A foolish man gathers wealth for the worms, while a wise man knows money is for giving.

I'm not sure I see the difference in what this guy does and those ultra wealthy folks in our own society...a small number of people in our own society own a reather large proportion of the countries net worth. Capitalism at its very best.

Oh...the difference is one is a Mexican and our obscenely wealthy are Americans....

I don't see a problem with him being rich but I do see a problem with him tsking donations. If Gates, Buffett and company want to donate, it should be encouraged. They have the extra money, and there are people who could use it.

I find it difficult to believe that one man can earn 7% of a countries' GDP without some sort of lawbreaking going on.

If there are no laws in place, then of course, it's not illegal.

This guy has just hit the list...Gates and Buffet have been BILLIONAIRES for decades now. There comes a point where you gotta realize you can't take it with you and you simply can't spend it fast enough. So you are left with just giving it away.

Let's see if this guy can stay on this list for more than 2-3 years. Mexico tends to have a troubled economy every couple years. He could lose billions in just a few short months just as quickly as he gained them.

Sorry bout that,

1. But Slim being so greedy, not only creates a drain on Mexican society in general.
2. It also hurts Americans, because those hurt by him there end up here drunk and driving on our streets.
3. They crash into innocent people killing them, while they survive always.
4. The drunk lives.
5. While innocents die at their desperate reach to obtain a ranch, that they can not afford because wages are so very low in Mexico.
6. While, *The Great Sucking Sound* is Slim sucking the life out of the Mexican economy.
7. Its legal crime it would seem, neither are we prepared to do one thing about it, and neither is Slim.

Chess, what do you have against Mexicans? You seem to have this notion that they are all criminals that have some insidious dark plan to bring down America.

People always want more. Let me ask you this... would you eat rice for every meal for the rest of your life if it meant nobody in the world would ever starve? Even if you would, do you understand my point?

Hes just working off the stereotype. Did you expect more from him?

I'm sorry Bobby, No, I'm not sure I catch your drift.

But to answer the question, no, I would not. Over-breeding is a big problem with humans. As with most of natured beings, if the population cannot support and feed itself, it diminishes or perishes.

Here in the states we kill off wildlife when it over populates (deer...etc..) Unfortunately we do not control our own breeding habits as well.

Cold I know.......
