Sorry bout that,
1. But now days children are getting dumber than dirt, duller than dish water.
2. Why is that do you ask?
3. Well do you ask?
4. There is a problem in the education system.
5. Its gone Neoliberal.
6. And all the Neoliberal are killing the children's brain cells.
7. They can not get a leg up on you Neoliberals, I shall never send my children into a public school, better to teach them how to work, and learn common sense, than what they learn now a days in the schools of the Neolibs.
8. You bring this on yourselves.
9. I have seen smarter children coming from locations on the planet, with minimal education.
10. Its time the Republicans took back the *Public Schools*.

Damn.....I'm a liberal and my kids went to public school and then on to college and now my grandkids are both in the advanced classes. Also, there are a few teens here who post, that seem extremely intelligent........hmmmm.......I think your theory may be wrong.

Sorry bout that,
1. But my theory is spot on!
2. And I shall prove it with many links, as I find them.
3. What success have your children had?
4. Are they set for life financially?
5. Success is measured on worth, and where you came from when you began your journey, and how many people you helped along the way.

That's a good idea Chess, Taco Bell and Burger King always need more workers. Thanks for helping them out.

Children Now A Days Are Dumber
nowadays, now, today
Â*Â* in these times; "it is solely by their language that the upper classes nowadays are distinguished"- Nancy Mitford; "we now rarely see horse-drawn vehicles on city streets"; "today almost every home has television"Â*Â*

Sorry bout that,
1. But I just love you word Nazi's.
2. Funny how a Neolib will always go for the easy hit job, and over look the facts as they are.
3. I didn't expect anything differently from Zo, way to go Zo!

Chess......I answered your question about education. That's all you're going to get out of me about my family.......but with me as a mother, how could they not be successful in every way!:D

I saw no facts, just someone who decries modern education while being unable to spell common words.

Sorry bout that,
1. But Zo, dude-a-rooney, spelling common words isn't intelligence.
2. Understanding the world around you, and how to maneuver in it is intelligence.
3. How to think things through to finish is intelligence.
4. Many so called Mensa's have never done one thing.
5. And have little to nothing to show for a life of fruitless book readings.
6. Having 20,000 books in your library does not make an intelligent being be.

You're not going to present evidence, are you?

Sorry bout that,
1. Look around in the world, the evidence is all around you.
2. Look at the smartest person you know and see how well off he/she is.
3. What have they really done?
4. Who have they helped?

I used to know a really smart guy who got arrested for trespassing. He was converting an abandoned building so homeless people could live in it, and the real estate owner didn't like it and called the cops when he found out. Guy was much younger than the real estate owner.
But, that aside where's actual evidence that people are dumber now?

Chess I would like to say something my generation were very smart especially when it comes to technology. In fact most of us could run circles around the guy at apple tech support. But the problem is that not all of my peers want to apply their intelligence to school because they just don't like it. It's that simple really it's not that were being brainwashed by liberals it's just that some of the things we learn in school we have trouble applying to our own lives. In fact the only reason I really actually keep my grades up is because with some of the careers I want to have require a lot of those things that most common people never use. Also society is partially to blame in some aspects.

Personally, I don't buy that "society is to blame"...Parents are as well as the peers of high school students who are extremely anti-intellectual. There's no social engineering that can be done to solve the problem.

Actually American society has become extremely anti-intellectual especially in youth culture. It generates a near infinite variety of fads, which are hard to keep up with. Also there's the fact that having straight as and speaking proper English is usually considered "lame" and not cool. Then there's also the fact that books are seen as dusty old pieces of paper that do not pertain to us. Not to mention in most media there is a decline on the reporting World events and political coverage. While crimes, sex scandals, and celebrity intrigue take up more and more space. I mean you ask what the axis of evil is in my school only about 3 out of ten will be able to tell you. But if you ask where Jessica Simpson gets her hair done seven out of ten will be able to tell you that. But society is a business what are you going to do?

Chess, I am what you call a liberal. I'm taking two college level courses next year, and am taking highly advanced courses this year. Am I stupid?
