I would hate to be working at the SF Chronicle, AJC or Philadelphia Inquirer.

As a great mind once said, "You want to know why your circulation is falling???It your liberalism, stupid. It's your anti-Americanism, stupid.??It's your anti-military attitudes, stupid."

Will they learn???

No.

Will they start folding and going out of business within 3 years?

Yes.

You're blaming falling newspaper sales on them being too liberal? Puh-leaze. Newspapers are dying for the same reason there's not a whole lot of companies out there still making horse-drawn buggies.

Now, if you want to talk about non-obsolete media, it may be worth mentioning that last month, Fox's ratings have continued the nose-dive they've been in for the past year, while CNN and MSNBC ratings continue to rise.

Uhh....
2.The Wall Street Journal, 2,049,786, down 1 percent
6. New York Daily News, 708,477, down 3.7 percent
7. New York Post, 673,379, down 0.7 percent
8. Chicago Tribune, 579,079, up 0.9 percent
9. Houston Chronicle, 513,387, down 3.6 percent
10. The Arizona Republic, 438,722, down 2.1 percent

Aren't those all conservative?

And the san francisco chronicle is being criticized for taking a turn to the right by people in san francisco. And the boston herald has seen significant drops in its circulation along with the globe.

And, besides, what does circulation have to do with accuracy?

Also, where's the link? And I can't help but assume your "great mind" is limbaugh.

edit: Some of these numbers are deceptive. For example the washington post had a 15% increase in profits in the 1st quarter of 2006, despite the drop. http://today.reuters.com/investing/financeArticle.aspx?type=marketsNews&storyID=2006-05-05T141015Z_01_N05335345_RTRIDST_0_MEDIA-WASHINGTONPOST-EARNS-UPDATE-1.XML

The Washington Post also owns Newsweek as well as television stations in Detroit, Houston, Miami, Orlando, San Antonio and Jacksonville, and cable systems serving subscribers in midwestern, western and southern states.

The company also owns Kaplan, Inc., a leading provider of educational and career services.

Their profits are not completely reliant on the Washington Post itself.

As a great mind once said, "You want to know why your circulation is falling? It your liberalism, stupid. It's your anti-Americanism, stupid. It's your anti-military attitudes, stupid."

It has nothing whatsoever to do with their liberalism, it has to do with the fact that print media is a dinosaur. Newspapers are failing because there are much better, faster and easier ways to get your news. Turn on the TV. Get on the Internet. Heck, you can have it fed straight to your cell phone. Why wait until tomorrow morning to read what happened when by the time you get your paper, it's already old news?

The newspaper is dying, not because of the quality of it's writing, but because of the speed of it's delivery.
