Everything from 9/11 to the current UK troops being kidnapped.
She is some piece of work.

She's a true spokesman for the left.

Why does anyone care what Rosie thinks? Seriously. You believe shes nuts and yet you jump at anything she says. Why do you care?

Bobby, I think there is a focus on Odonnell because she is an illusory example of the predominant stereotype of radical liberalism.

She's a true spokesman for the left.
If she is then Ann Coulter is a true spokesman for the right.

Interesting theory but once again it has nothing to do with this thread. This thread is about Rosie. I didn't see Ann Coulter's name associated with it.
Do you have anything to add relative to this thread or are you going to change it with every post?
I'm waiting for one of the co-hosts to come across the desk and beat the shit out of her. You can tell they despise her.

*spins both hands in a stirring motion and chants "Go Rosie, Go Rosie"* :D

The point I made was quite simple and that is that Rosie is not the spokesperson for the left. Sorry you didn't get it, but not surprised.

Philosophical question:
If an idiot says something on a television show no one watches, does anyone hear it?

In this day and age yeah I'm guessing someone would. Our society is strange like considering we have two wars going on, a crisis with Iran, and many other things. Yet we still find the time to make a big deal out of stars that no one really likes.

How does that old saying go?
"I don't agree with what you say but I will defend your right to free speech with my life" which now has the addendum "As long as what you say is what I want you to say".
She has the right to say what she does, and instead of engaging with her in a proper debate, they resort to character assassination which is a sure sign of guilt. She has certainly hit a raw nerve with the neocons here. :D

This isn't a free speech issue Jafar, not even close. The first amendment guarentees that the government will not infringe upon someone's right to speak, it does not guarentee that you be able to say something with no repercussions from the private sector. As an avowed libertarian, I did get a chuckle from the neocon comment though.

LOL! Tom Selleck nearly did when she started spouting nonsense about the NRA a few years ago on one of her talk shows. :D

I agree that Ann Coulter is a spokesman for the right...the extreme right. Same goes for Rosie as being left...far left.
Your point only proves that nuts like to be far to the side. :)

Rosie is a total worthless, demented, piece of crap. (Now that is quality debate!)
But at least she's lovely.

I disagree. This is a freedom of speech issue. She is just exercising her right to question and hold an alternative view to what the establishment is saying.
It's her right and duty as an American citizen to question those who have been elected into a position of authority when what they are telling the public doesn't quite add up. The people have to hold the government accountable for their actions. This is what makes a democracy work.

But she is not merely questioning or expressing an alternate view, she is spewing venom, supporting outrageous conspiracy theories, and attempting to cause as much turmoil as she can. The woman is looney tunes.

Key word is stereotype, and you are correct. She does no cause any good.

The people have to hold the government accountable for their actions. This is what makes a democracy work. This is all true but irrelevant. We do have the right to SAY what we want whether it be critical of the gov't or not. BUT: we do not have the RIGHT not to be fired because of what we say in public. This is not a Constitutional issue [this is a fact, not an opinion], the gov't has not censored Rosie's commentary and THAT would be a violation of free speech. There is no right in the country to say something without consequences, none. Again, the 1st Amendment starts off with "Congress shall make no law...", if no government entity was involved in a given incident it is IMPOSSIBLE for there to have been a free speech violation. The Constitution only protects citizens from GOVERNMENT acts curtailing speech, not from the private sector. If Rosie was fired by the network for her words it would be perfectly legal and perfectly legitimate; not a violation of free speech[/quote]

Rosie took lessons from Ann Coulter and is winning. The best thing to do is just tune them out and give no financial support or attention to them whatsoever and they will go away.
but as long as people support them by buying their merchandise they will continue to fester like an infection.
They all have the right to free speech, but they do not have the right not to be criticized nor do they have the right to force their employers to support their comments by not firing them (unless it is in a contract somewhere).
