I have decided to remove the political parties section. It didn't seem to be doing very well. Not everything we try works well. I have merged the 4 forums into one and moved it into the Debates area. Part of the reason for the move was easier site navigation.
Thank you,
Jes

Yeah working on it now. We may have lost some posts though. I can't see how I f'ed up but obviously I did. It was just a simple thing I did. Dammit...next time I make backups. Oh well..I know I have a backup from january...so we mostly just lost about 6-7 weeks of just one forum.

Well...my latest backup was from almost 2 months ago. I was backing up regularly for a while too....dammit!
Anyways...it's about 2000 posts...we will just have to suck it in.

Your webhost doesn't do regular SQL backups? Most hosts I've used provide daily backups for the past week or two, and often weekly backups for a few months.

Yes I run my own servers...I am actually building us a new server now....spent the whole weekend setting it up. I want to finish today so I can ship it off and get this site on it asap.

Basic hardware upgrades nothing too fancy. Better CPU, better HD, more ram, updated OS....the usual really. Hopefully things will go well.

Wow, you run your own servers?
Question, if we lost posts why didn't the post numbers go down?

Those numbers are cached...and I need to rebuild the data. The forum overall count is correct though. And I checked Google cache and it seems we lost about 2500 posts. Totally sucks imho.
And yes...I do run my own servers. I am building a new one now actually. It should improve site performance.
