Let's see everyone put up who they think will be running for POTUS from each side. Save the "But it's too early" and throw down an early prediction.
I feel strongly it will be McCain and Hussein Osama.
Who ya got?

Who's Osama? I know of a OBAMA, but not Osama that is running for president.

Ah, this is just typical Stoner stuff. I think this is why he makes so many people angry.
I think he might have gotten some intelligent debate, if he would have posted the name correct.

What will he say if "Hussein Osama" kicks the crap out of his Neocon candidate?

I just KNEW the Republicans would dig up Osama in time for the elections! LOL.
I'm thinking: Republican -- John McCain and Rudy Giuliani
Democrat -- Barack Obama and John Edwards

I don't know who the democrats will put up yet, but I think whoever it is has shown themselves already. To explain I mean I am thinking it will be one of the individuals who have already pitched their political hat into the ring.
On the republican side I have not seen a single candidate that I feel has the stuff to win an election. I cannot get excited about Giuliani as president, VP maybe but not president. After some soul searching I could probably vote for McCain. As for Romney? I don't the party actually knows who he is and I find his position reversals a bit convenient to be believed.

I can't wait to come back in a couple of months and see how poorly I did.
McCain/Guliani vs. Clinton/Obama.

I'd like to see Obama vs. Ron Paul
Two intelligent gentlemen who we might actually be able to trust.

Looks like my boy, Thompson, is giving a run a serious thought. Polls show that he would be 3rd right now in the GOP. That number would go up as soon as he officially announces.
Man I hope he runs. He has my vote hands down. What a tremendous POTUS he would be.

Potter, I wouldn't mind seeing that either. Ron Paul is the most principled member of Congress in some time...That said, he doesn't have a chance in Hell. Realistically it will be:
Clinton v. Giuliani
It will not be close.

Giuliani. Both candidates have been visibly changing their stances on key issues, Rudy has run from the center to the right and Hillary has run from the left to the center. Voters are idiots, but the GOP would not have to work hard to show how Hill has been pandering to the middle recently whereas the DNC would be hard-pressed to hurt Rudy for cuddling with the right. Running to the Right is more acceptable in American than running from the Left.
In addition, NO ONE is undecided about Hillary, you love her or hate her. If/when John McCain concedes, his followers will support Rudy [the only moderate left]. Rudy would win every traditional Republican state, New Hampshire and New Jersey. As I said, the election would not be close.

I think you might be surprised, Cynic. Senator Clinton isn't my choice for the democratic nomination, (I've already contributed to the Obama campaign), but I wouldn't have any problem with her as the nominee. Furthermore, I see Giuliani as a very divisive figure. I have no more assurance of being correct than you do, but I do think my observations are as valid as yours at this point.
I think the 2008 campaign is going to be unique in my lifetime of following elections.

All it would take is a generous sprinkling of Rudy in a dress and powdered wig to seal that loss....:D

Potter, you're probably right. Yet I actually admire Giuliani for having both the balls and the personal security to do that. It just seems to be a fact that people respond to their visceral reactions instead of reason on an "issue" like that.
Out of all the candidates running, I don't think Rudy would do too well in the debates. I may be wrong, but he doesn't seem to think that well on his feet.

McCain vs. Edwards
Obama does not have a chance this time. Maybe next time or maybe as VP.
Hillary has high negatives, but she does have balls, so I don't count her out.
Giuliani has less of a chance than I do. How will he get any support fom the Republican base? Not going to happen.

Well, as little faith as I have in the Republican base, they only need a small chunk of rationality to figure out this brain-buster:
Who would you rather have as President, Hillary Clinton or Rudy Giuliani?
The base will choose who they believe is the most electable due to the fact that there is not one viable social conservative running for Pres. right now [Mitt Romney does not count].
-NC
Well, there is John McCain...

McCain will be a factor, but has already started to fade and will continue to. He's saturated the market, so to speak, he's been on TV campaigning for 3 YEARS. Still though, if, somehow he does the nomination, he would defeat Hill easily as well, for the same reasons Giuliani would. The base will vote for whoever they believe to be the most electable There are two electable Republicans [three if you count Ron Paul], either one will beat Hillary. IMO, the only Democrat who stands a chance at winning a Presidential election [and who I like, personally] is Bill Richardson.

NEC, will you be supporting Ron Paul? I'm inclined to, but he has almost zero chance of getting a nomination, and I think the Rs are doomed to failure even if they DID get a good candidate like him because of the collective punishment they will get from Bush and the current crop of neocons.

I plan on holding my nose, registering as a Republican and voting for Dr. Paul in the Massachusetts Republican Primary election. He has ZERO chance at winning the nomination [though he would easily win a general election] but I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror if I didn't do something to support him.

You three got my interst piqued, I've never heard of the guy, didn't know he was running. Firefox, you've always let me know about these things in the past.;)
Went to his website and read some of his speeches. He makes a lot of sense. It's too bad that money is what gets people elected.

I really don't know why so many people say that. She's not my first choice, but I'll sure vote for her if she wins the democratic nomination. But I'd rather see Obama get the democratic nomination. And it would tickle me pink if the GOP nominated Gingrich.
