Such has always been the case, it isn't just Bush in this instance. And, TBH, even our most destitute live like kings compared to how the poor in other countries live. And in some countries, health care isn't even available.

While I empathise with "take care of your own first", our own do eventually get taken care of. These others we are aiding won't unless someone else steps in.

There are many countries out there whose inhabitants wish for even the metaphical scraps for the U.S. table.

Potter is correct, there are countries where the destitution is so broad that it boggles the mind and health care is a pipe dream.

I am very aware of that having spent a great deal of time in Africa, even so there is no country that can look to our homeless as living like kings. The point was Dumbo continues to give away with zero regard for our problems. Yes I understand that every president before him has repeated this, but no president before him ever had a debt as great as the US has now. When will somebody begin to address our problems before the outside world?

Mexico, China, and Europe. Even those who sleep in boxes here have access to shelters and food.

The President Announced He Will Send The USNS Comfort A Navy Medical Ship To Latin America And The Caribbean. The Comfort will make port calls in Belize, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, and Suriname. Its doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals expect to treat 85,000 patients and conduct up to 1,500 surgeries. The Comfort will also partner with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on a new initiative to provide oral care to the region's poor.
