A LEADING Muslim cleric has blamed the devastating drought, climate change and pollution on Australians' lack of faith in Allah.

Radical sheik Mohammed Omran told followers at his Brunswick mosque that out-of-control secular scientific values had caused environmental disaster.

"The fear of Allah is not there. So we have now a polluted earth, a polluted water, a wasteland," he told a meeting this year.

"What are the people now crying for? The prophet told you hundreds of years ago, 'Look after the water'."

A Sunday Herald Sun investigation also found clerics railing against "evil" democracy, vilifying Jews and Christians and encouraging jihad and polygamy.

And in a popular DVD selling locally, a foreign sheik exhorts Muslims to take control of Australia by out-breeding non-believers.

British-based Sheik Abdul Raheem Green forbade Muslims from having fewer than four children so Australia would become an Islamic state.

Behind the closed doors of some Melbourne mosques and bookshops, sheiks push for Sharia law, declare Islam at war with the "sick" West and gloat that September 11 boosted Muslim numbers.

At a Muslim information centre in Coburg, extreme literature shares shelves with DVDs by firebrand sheiks from around the globe.

The centre, run by Abu Hamza, serves Muslims in the northern suburbs.

Many CDs and DVDs there feature London sheik Abdul Raheem Green, who is on an Australian Government watchlist.

On one he tells his audience to Islamise Australia through a Muslim baby boom.

"The birth rate in the Western countries is going down. People are more interested in their careers . . . they don't want to have babies," Sheik Green says in one DVD.

"So don't you think, Muslim brothers and sisters, we've got a bit of an opportunity here? They're not having babies any more. So what if, instead, we have the babies?

"In Canada one in three or one in four children being born is a Muslim. What does that do to the demographic shift of a Muslim population in 20 years' time?

Islamic Council of Victoria spokesman Waleed Aly said he was disappointed though not surprised by the Sunday Herald Sun's discoveries.

But he said extremist speech and literature was confined to only a couple of Melbourne groups.

"If I walked into (Omran's group) or (Hamza's centre) it wouldn't surprise me," he said.

Mr Aly said he believed Muslims were radicalised by "cult-like peer groups", not hate literature.

Back to topic:

Anyways..Islam has more than a fair share of radical muslim clerics. Dencouncements are rare and there is no central muslim voice to decounce or excommunicate as in the Catholic church. I am not even sure what it takes to qualify as a Muslim Cleric. Obviously rationale isn't required. Which goes back to what I said to start this topic...rationale isn't required to be a member here. :)

The Koran is not widely known as a source of guidance on environmental and conservation issues, but that has not stopped one development organisation in Tanzania from using it to help conserve an island marine park.
Religious leaders have been asked to promote conservation messages using the texts of the Koran - an approach which has proved a great deal more successful than government regulations.

The island of Misali is just a small dot in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Pemba.

The coral reef surrounding it is home to a rich variety of fish and turtles.

Misali is uninhabited, but where there are fish, there are fishermen - and just a few years ago this fragile island paradise was under serious threat.

Religious awareness

Destructive fishing methods were damaging the corals and harming species that lived there. Government bans had little impact.

The fishermen who launch their wooden dugout canoe from the windswept shores of Misali, like 99% of the population of the Zanzibar archipelago, are Muslims.

Once they realised that catches were falling dramatically, the non-governmental organisation Care International stepped in to persuade them to take better care of their environment - through a scheme based on Islamic principles.

"People didn't experience environmental destruction in their areas until very recently," says Ali Thani, Care's project director.

"And after what they are experiencing, they feel that Islamic environmental ethics might be better to create awareness in the community to protect their environment."

These fishermen have learned the benefits of fishing in a sustainable manner without harming the island's bio-diversity.

Tourist destination

Salum Haji has fished these waters for as long as he can remember.

"There have been a lot of bad things happening here," he says.

"People have used dynamite and guns to fish here. This has destroyed the coral.

"I am happy that now we have learnt that the Koran tells us to protect everything in this world, including the environment.

"I am more dedicated to protecting the environment now and a more committed Muslim as well."

With sustainable fishing, catches have increased.

And the underwater life is so rich that the island has also become a tourist destination, with money paid by visitors being put back into community development on Pemba.
It is thought this is the first time the teachings of the Koran have been used in Tanzania to promote conservation.

Local religious leaders like Shehe Mlekwa Lissani Bambi are now highlighting Islamic teachings about conservation in their sermons, though a certain amount of interpretation has been necessary, he says.

"Everything we see in the world is in the Koran," he says.

"We have not changed what is in it as this cannot be changed, but we are reading it with more knowledge.

"We are the guardians of God's creation. He asks us to protect what he created and we can do this by looking after the environment."

'God's law'

Shehe Mlekwa Lissani Bambi feels it is fitting that Misali island was chosen to pioneer the use of Islamic ethics to conserve the environment. Misali is steeped in Islamic myth, including one surrounding a saintly figure known as the Prophet Hadhara.

"The island is very important in our history. Once Prophet Hadhara arrived at Misali and asked fishermen for a prayer mat.

"As there was no mat, Hadhara said the island itself was like a prayer mat since it exactly points towards Mecca.

"He prayed and then disappeared. Since then the island is called Misali, which means prayer mat."

Care International project director Ali Thani says it was only possible to convince people with the help of the sheha and shehe - the religious leaders. So far, he says, the project appears to be working.

One local fisherman summarised neatly why the religious message has succeeded where government decrees failed: It is easy to ignore the government, he said, but no-one can break God's law.

The only thing you seem unable to understand is that Arab love their homeland, their integrity nad pride more than there own when Israelis invaded their land took over their land by force, kill the father, the son and brother imprisson more than the third of the population , when they kill the palestines in massacres and in brutal way, they took every thing but they will never take their pride, love for freedom and hope for a better future where their children can live safely on their land proud of their fathers who sacrificed their own life to defend their people and restore their home land. It's absolutely ridiculous to even suggest that Hezbollah is the aggressor in the current crisis occurring in the Middle East. Let's be rational then and use history to see who is fed p with who and who is the real terrorist here :
If we examine the Israeli black history, we will find its true face which started with :
The massacre of Deir Yassin in April 9, 1948,:

Why palestinian make suicide bombing ?
Islam condemns suicide as much as it condemns oppression and aggression against others. While the Muslims are commanded to stand for their rights and defend themselves, their properties and their freedom they are told to first resort to peace advocate tolerance and disregard the ignorant. The following verses from the Quran show how the Quran describes suicide, such an important issue in our life that was made the center of the conflict in the Middle East lately.

[2:195] You shall spend in the cause of GOD; do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. You shall be charitable; GOD loves the charitable.

[ 4:29] O you who believe, do not consume each others' properties illicitly - only mutually acceptable transactions are permitted. You shall not kill yourselves. GOD is Merciful towards you.

[ 4:30] Anyone who commits these transgressions, maliciously and deliberately, we will condemn him to Hell. This is easy for GOD to do.

Suicide bombing by young uninformed Muslim youths has been carried out almost routinely as a mean of revenge in the Middle East conflict. It is mainly done to avenge their oppression, occupation and loss of freedom they have been experiencing all their life. It is carried out by the youth who lost all the hope to a peaceful settlement as they witnessed their families, loved ones, neighbors, and the innocent bystanders die or tortured at the hand of a merciless occupying force. Despite these intolerable situation no permission can be found in Islam to avenge by suicide bombing or by targeting the innocent civilians. These young desperate Muslim youth have been taught what is NOT in the Quran, and what was never promised by God in the Holy book.

As the verses quoted above show, suicide in any form is condemned by God, no excuse given under any circumstances. The Quran does not promise Heaven (Paradise) to those who commit suicide but rather warn of condemnation to Hell. The promise of paradise or of virgin wives in Heaven for those suicide bombers and those who kill the innocent civilians has no basis in Islam and cannot be found anywhere in the Quran. These fabrications taught to these poor desperate Muslim youths originated probably from the man made books of Hadiths and Sunna that were condemned by God and by the prophet Muhammad himself who told his followers to follow ONLY the Quran.

Suicide is a state of disbelief and loss of faith that is condemned by God throughout the Quran. In the Quran, God commands the believers never to despair or lose hope and instead work for a brighter future.

[12:87] "....................... None despairs of GOD's grace except the disbelieving people."

We do understand the dire situation in which these youth live and we do have the full sympathy to their suffering and oppression , but we cannot agree with breaking God's commandment. Oppression is not a reason to break God's law, on the contrary oppression is a good reason to hold tight to these commandments and to show the world the true and peaceful face of Islam . If we break God's law we move ourselves away from His mercy and lose His support. We should know that it is by following God's law in the Quran we will gain dignity and sovereignty on our land while achieving peace, tolerance and love to the whole world around us. We have to believe that two wrongs will not make one right. Now after thousands of wrongs carried out by both sides in the conflict, no right emerged and will never emerge. Unless we go back to God's commandments in the scriptures, the Torah, Gospel and/or the Quran, there will be no success and no victory for any group. . All the scriptures call on the people to live in peace and harmony and to advocate tolerance. Victory as far as God is concerned is achieved by the guarantee of freedom and justice for all and not by the domination of one group or nation above another..

Quran urges the followers of Islam to resort to peace first and whenever possible but they may fight the oppressors if peaceful means failed. Fighting does not include killing the innocent civilians and the least expecting people as this reflects the meanest kind of character and does not reflect the spirit and/or teachings of Islam These suicide bombers can contribute more and better for the society if they direct their efforts into teaching the world about their cause and work with their neighbors to strengthen their stand against oppression, or be a part of the peaceful solution of the problem they have been facing instead of being a reason for its failure.

The blame can be equally thrown at the oppressors who gave these youths no chance or HOPE to live in dignity and freedom. The world has to speak up against the oppression and occupation of the land and life of these people as well. No where in any divine or human law is a place for a group of people to live at the expense of oppressing others or occupying their homes, land, and life. Peace can only be achieved when mutual respect of human life and properties are achieved.

We should make every effort to educate our young and youth of the Quranic commandments and it is as important for the free world to make every effort to stop this aggression and oppression against a whole nation under occupation that find no exit from this desperate situation except by death or dying.

(8:61) "If they resort to peace, so shall you, and put your trust in GOD. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient."

(7:199) You shall resort to pardon, advocate tolerance, and disregard the ignorant.

(16:90) GOD advocates justice, charity, and regarding the relatives. And He forbids evil, vice, and transgression. He enlightens you, that you may take heed.

(49:13) O people, we created you from the same male and female, and rendered you distinct peoples and tribes, that you may recognize one another. The best among you in the sight of GOD is the most righteous. GOD is Omniscient, Cognizant.

So Islam doesnt encourage to suicide, but calls for peace, Mercy, which is the highest meaning of life Therefore Islam keen to ensure that life is good, full of mercy, love and coexistence but see why those people do that , look at this massacres and guess how this people suffer from Deadly Israeli machine and daily murder and try to find the peace to them not Bias them without any reason , no more pains and murder by the war and media and bad Ideas from you .
