Polar bears, sea ice and global warming are taboo subjects, at least in public, for some U.S. scientists attending meetings abroad, environmental groups and a top federal wildlife official said on Thursday.

Environmental activists called this scientific censorship, which they said was in line with the Bush administration's history of muzzling dissent over global climate change.

But H. Dale Hall, director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, said this policy was a long-standing one, meant to honor international protocols for meetings where the topics of discussion are negotiated in advance.

Listed as a "new requirement" for foreign travelers on U.S. government business, the memo says that requests for foreign travel "involving or potentially involving climate change, sea ice, and/or polar bears" require special handling, including notice of who will be the official spokesman for the trip.

Also, don't think about pink elephants.

Why is the US government trying to stifle scientific debate?

Is it the old keep them (the people) in the dark and feed them bullshit routine?

A better question, Potter, would be why is Congress and other left-wing fucktards using money and various funding to get certain groups within the scientific community to come up with findings favorable to their political agenda.

While your unsupported opinion is interesting, it is anything but convincing.

Cite any... any published, peer-reviewed research on global warming that you would like to discuss the merits of, Stoner.

I've listed at least 100 such articles. I'm sure you can find one that you disagree with and explain to us why...

And how is that different than other special interest groups using various funding to do the same the other way?

And why is it that no papers or reports countering global warming have ever been published for peer review in a reputable research journal? Is it because it would never withstand scrutiny?

And what is the resistance to conservation and reduction of pollutants other than capitalist greed and lazyness? It would seem that it would be prudent to be cautious and maybe work at reducing pollutants, to be safe than sorry. We can ignore the issue and 50 years down the road find out the global warming people were right...when it's too late to do anything about it, or at least try to conserve, reduce emissions and pollutions which is a win win for everyone. Are you willing to gamble with your grandchildren?

C'mon, pirate, you KNOW Stoner doesn't come here to debate. He just comes to dump his opinion and whip out a few personal shots and then move on. He's never posted proof when he's challenged on his opinion and it won't happen now.

Shit, he's never even posted an argument. But let's not be too hard on him.

Well, in his defense, he has posted an argument in that convoluted, screwed up, stoney way that he has. It wasn't much of one and it was quickly proven wrong but he has posted an argument. Once. Remember, Buck, he doesn't come here to debate.
