WHAT HILLARY DIDN'T DO

By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

Published in the New York Post on March 6, 2007.

When pressed about her qualifications for the presidency, Sen. Hillary Clinton falls back on her husband's domestic-policy record - claiming credit for the good economy, welfare reform and the balanced budget.

It's a very fine record, indeed - but it's Bill's, not Hillary's.

Hillary was the moving force behind the Clinton presidency in 1993 and 1994 - with primary responsibility for the disastrous health-care plan, which helped hand Congress to the Republicans. After that, her husband sent her into a polite exile.

Hillary stopped attending political strategy meetings, traveled extensively and wrote "It Takes a Village." She was most emphatically not part of the splendid record President Clinton amassed in the 1995-96 period. Bill indirectly confirms this by failing to credit Hillary with much in his memoirs.

She was not part of the negotiations on welfare reform nor was she in most of the talks with the Republicans that led to the balanced-budget deal. Later, after these policies succeeded, she trumpeted her support. But she wasn't there when they hung in the balance.

The 1998 Lewinsky scandal returned Hillary to her '93-94 role of power-behind-the-scenes, directing the response to what she called the "vast right-wing conspiracy." But nothing happened in those years beyond saving Clinton from impeachment.

Hillary's embrace of Bill's record is also selective. She claims to have had nothing to do with the pardons of the FALN Puerto Rican terrorists, for example. And, even though her brothers took hundreds of thousands of dollars in "fees" to lobby the president for pardons for Carlos Vignali, the head of the crack racket in Minneapolis, and others, she professes her ignorance of their activities.

Hillary says she wasn't involved in her husband's decision to pardon the leaders of the Hasidic New Square community despite her pre-election visit on site and her post-election White House meeting with them. Coincidentally, this Republican enclave voted almost unanimously for Hillary.

Hillary takes credit for what she didn't do and avoids responsibility for what she obviously was involved in. Some qualifications.

Coming from a guy who spent a considerable amount of time consorting with hookers and otherwise bending the law, the leg he has to stand on is pretty shaky. If you listen to Dick Morris and then events pass you by without notice because you are out of the loop, don't say that you weren't warned.

Typical hypocrite comment from a lib. You love him when he's on your side but now that he's neutral and writes extremely well-written political analysis you all of a sudden trash him.

Now we know why "flip-flop" has become a common term to describe the democratic party.

Typical ignorant comment from a stoned out Neocon. I never liked Dick Morris or David Gergen for that matter. Advice from a conservative pundit like either one of those two is like wiping your ass with someone else's used toilet paper: it doesn't make things any better and just gets their crap all over your own ass. In other words, it's worse than worthless.

Talk to your boy Mitt Romney if you want to know all about flip-flops. He's the King of Flip-Flops. He makes Kerry look amateurish by comparison.

Uh uh. Sure you didn't.

Kerry makes himself look amateurish. He, like most libs are classic liars who only says things to get votes. Nothing they say or do is genuine. Look at Hillar-y-ous and her fake southern accent. Now Hussein Osama is doing it when he was here in the South talking in ebonics.

Now if you want to discuss the topic at hand we can. However getting into a mudslinging contest is more your speed anyways. Funny how you never discuss the topic. In fact I bet my left nut your next response will be anything other than the topic at hand. Why? Because you are incapable of anything but mudslinging.

If it helps, I think Ms. Clinton is a terrible choice for the White House.

LOL, now if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. God you're a riot with hypocrisy Stoner.

I can quote you many threads where all you have done is insulted and started shit. I think it is YOU who is incapable of doing anything other than mudslinging. You prove it in most of your posts.

It's just that she's not electable in a general election. If she wins the lib ticket the republicans will hands down have another president in the WH.

Take a meaningful stand.

I thought the Republicans were out for good, but man, if the Dems keep screwing up like this, it's over.

As if you had proof for anything you've ever said. Like the biggest Liberal on the board is going to prop up a warmed over Neocon policy advisor because Bubba once liked him. Yeah, sure.

Bill left a lot out of his memoirs. That proves nothing. But the fact remains that she is credited with somethings and his statement contradicts his main thrust of his argument. He wanted to say "nothing" but he had to say "with much" because he knew that she was there during that whole time. Dick's selective cherrypicking of the facts just shows him to be the washed-up political chump that he is.

In fact I bet my left nut your next response will be anything other than the topic at hand.

Cut it off and hand it over, loser.

Time for a new party to go into Congress and then to the White House.

You see? I respond to the thread topic and you turn around and make it about me again. That's why I don't bother sticking to the thread topic on most of your threads because it inevitably comes around to a personal comment or attack on me. I just cut out the pretense that you are here to debate. You aren't and I already know that.

I agree. One that isn't dependent on lobbies for its money, cannot be bought, and is in power for 10-20 years to fix things -- in my view this is necessary.

The two major parties are a joke. The republicans are leaning left, the Dems leaning right... WTF

Where's that left nut of yours that you promised? I'm going to be trapping some squirrels and I need some squirrel bait for the trap. FedEx or UPS will be fine. That is IF you have a left nut.
