View Full Version : Anonymous or Public polls?

When you create a poll you have an option to make a poll "public" or "private"...if it's public that means the results page will show who the voters were and for what they voted. If you choose private this information will not be displayed.
I wanted to make everyone aware of this because I believe public is the default and you must unclick it to make it private.
Thank you.
There aren't a lot of secrets around here and sooner or later everyone knows where everyone else stands. This isn't Florida or Ohio where the results really count for something.

Then again, it is peoples right to be given the option to have their result published publicly or not. And if a Poll is public they might not vote.

Freudian slip, there.

You cant dictate what people should chose to do or not, from that statement, you are saying "I chose to publicly display my choices, why shouldnt anyone else? Why is anyone else different from me?"
Which is arrogant, people have the right to choose between publicly displaying their choice or not. THAT IS THEIR CHOICE! And cannot be changed by arrogant-minded people who expect them to follow suit, because OBIVOUSLY that is the ONLY way to go. I THINK NOT!

You're right, Nitrus, people should have a lot to hide while answering questions like, "Do you like Peeps Easter candy" and "Who is the worst President".
How silly of me not to see why someone wouldn't want full confidentiality while answering such private and riveting questions.

You know full well that there are Polls on this site, which attract heat from members like you if someone picks the "wrong" option.

There is no "wrong" option. It's all personal preference.

Stupid me, I just vote and choose what I will, and everybody knows me anyway. A given there.

I think private polls should be allowed if people want them. Does it really matter in the end? We all know where each other is coming from.

I always make my polls public. I like to see who votes for what. We are here to share our opinion on politics right? If we didn't want our opinion known, we'd be doing something else...

Closed or open doesn't concern me - if the question is thoughtful, objective, and unbiased; the alternatives fair and considered, and with ample care to accommodating idiosyncratic opinions, I'll take it. If it's just another regime xerox asking us how greatly we appreciate our GLorious Leader's heroic successes in Iraq, the only thing that should be closed on it is a toilet bowl lid.

Okay, I had to laugh at that. There was a guy in here who was banned, but his posts deserved the toilet. Funny!!
Hey!! Wait a damn minute!! Get me outta here! Damn toilet bowl lids nail me every time!

I rarely vote in the "polls"....usually the options are set up in such a way as to promote the political agenda of the person setting the poll and leave no rational options except the ones the pollster wants chosen.....
