Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear him in person, because it started raining about 2 PM, and he wasn't scheduled to speak until 3 PM. He made it right on time, but because of my recent health problems, I had to get out of the rain. I listened to his speech on the web later, and decided that he's my candidate as things stand now. Wife and I sent in a donation this evening. Obama isn't the kind of speaker I expected--there's absolutely NOTHING "slick" about him. But unlike Bush, everything he says makes total sense, and can be parsed out.
Link (http://www.statesman.com/news/mplayer/m/9763)This is a link to Senator Obama's complete speech. It runs about 30 minutes, and it's audio only, but you can hear what the man sounds like on the stump.
I am convinced that I heard the next President of the United States today. And I feel better about my country already.

Lucky you to getting to go (but I'm sorry you didn't get to stay). I tried to score tickets in Chicago, they sold out.

Sorry bout that,
1. But I don't think he will last much longer.
2. You watch the dirty politics coming from that hated party everyone can agree.
3. Yeah Hilary Clinton is coming up his alley to drag out the trash!
4. To bad some one isn't going after her.
5. But where do you start on her anyway, like shooting ducks on the water.

Not yet. My guess is that Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, and the rest of the Senate wannabes, less Senator Obama, will drop out. I look for the main contenders to be Clinton, Obama, Edwards, and Richardson. But if Al Gore should decide sometime next year that he wants to run, then they'll have to do the calculus all over.
I'm for Obama now, but if Gore should decide to run, I think a Gore-Obama ticket would be a world beater.

Me too. Obama looks like our best chance to turn things around and get our country back on track.
I like Biden and Dodd too, but I like the idea of a constitutional scholar/civil rights advocate/fresh new face. Go Obama!

Personable kind of guy. He has the Bill Clinton touch.
Unfortunately I think that if elected, he will be imprisoned by the power brokers of Washington, and either play ball with them or be marginalized or assassinated.
Remember that it was Bill C that signed away millions of American jobs with NAFTA.
