Ali Mohamed has been one of Al-Qaeda's key operatives since its formation. He trained much of Al-Qaeda's top leadership. He trained the men who killed Rabbi Meir Kahane, leader of the Jewish Defense League in America. He trained the men who carried out the 1993 WTC bombing. He trained the Somalis who killed 18 US troops in 1993. He trained Bin Laden's personal bodyguards. He trained the men who bombed the US Embassy in Kenya.

Although his involvement in these and other terrorist activities was well known to the US government, Ali Mohamed lived openly in California and was protected from arrest in America and abroad on a number of occassions. And I should also mention that he was a soldier... for the US Army. In fact he served as an officer at Fort Bragg for several years and then the Army Reserves for several years after that. And he helped out the FBI and CIA.

So, in short, a US military officer, CIA spy, and FBI informant took a large role in many of the most atrocious terrorist attacks against America before 9/11. But some people still believe that the government couldn't possibly be complicit in the attack of 9/11 itself...

The deeper one looks into Mohamed's story, the more outrageous and unbelievable it becomes, but snippets of it can be found throughout mainstream media stories spanning decades. His first contact with the CIA was in 1984, but the agency soon publicly disavowed him because of his ties to Islamic Fundamentalist groups (odd, since the CIA had helped to create these in the first place). He was placed on a watch list, but the next year entered the US anyways through a special via program later revealed to be controlled by the CIA. 15 of the 19 alleged 9/11 hijackers would later receive their visas through the same US Consulate.

In 1986 Mohamed enlisted in the US Army and began training and coordinating Al Qaeda operatives. In 1989 Mohamed himself traveled to Afghanistan to fight for the Mujahedeen, in blatant violation of Army rules, but was never punished. Complaints by Lt. Col. Anderson of Fort Bragg went unheeded, leading him to realize that Mohamed’s activities had to be sponsored by a US intelligence agency. Said Anderson, “I think you or I would have a better chance of winning [the lottery], than an Egyptian major in the unit that assassinated [Egyptian President Anwar] Sadat would have getting a visa, getting to California ... getting into the Army and getting assigned to a Special Forces unit. That just doesn’t happen.”

The FBI uncovered a mountain of evidence of Mohamed's involvement in various terrorist plots over the next several years, yet he was never taken in. When he was detained by Canadian Police in 1993, they were quite shocked when he told them to call his FBI handler who subsequently instructed them to release him. Mohamed would continue to travel freely between the US and Middle Eastern and Central Asian countries.

Mohamed was finally arrested on September 10, 1998 and indicted on May 18, 1999, however he was never publicly sentenced. To this day his whereabouts remain unknown. The government has tried to spin Mohamed as a double agent who betrayed America, but a thorough review of his story makes it clear that he was protected by intelligence agencies while carrying out terrorist acts of which they had full knowledge.
