These are 10 of my current favorite metal bands.Â*Â*Which of these are your favorite.Â*Â*I'm sure some of these you've never heard of. I purposly left out the real popular metal bands. Although Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God are growing very popular with mainstream metal fans.

And the Dixie Chicks won 5 grammy's. Shows you Grammy's are now political and have nothing to do with music.

Killswitch Engage is really good.Â*Â*Hey, NC, seeing you like them and all, have you listened to their older albums with the original singer, Jesse Leach (the white guy)?

This is a great song.Â*Â*It's also their best album.Â*Â*I got nothing against Howard Jones.Â*Â*I love his voice.Â*Â*I just can't decide who I like better.

My ruin and nocturne are the only metal bands I listen to anymore. I'd listen to some of cradle of filth if it was playing, I just wouldn't choose it anymore.

Out of all the ones you mentioned, chimaira is the only one that sounds vaguely familiar, though I may just be remembering another group called chimera.

Ugh. I despise goth music.

Well it's not really goth, it's black metal. Unless they've changed that is. The most recent cd of theirs I have is from 2000, though their 1998 one, cruelty and the beast, was by far their best up to that point.

Though if you want goth music, I do have a very nice goth collection from about 94, 95 to 2000. I'll still listen to a few of them on occasions, but the only band that's on my must buy list anymore is inkubus sukkubus. Outside of that, I can only think of 2-3 other groups I'd seriously consider buying new cd's of.

Though I do have a nice vinyl collection of Siouxsie and the Banshees albums, most of which are from the 80's.

Some of the music I like though does have a large goth following. John Tavener (classical music), kate bush, delerium, azam ali, anonymous 4 and tori amos are some of the ones which seem to attract people who at one point or another had an interest in goth music.

edit: Forgot about Lacuna Coil. She's borderline goth and I love her work.

Well it's not really goth, it's black metal.

The hell they are. They're listed by some as that but they are Goth. You could stretch it and refer to them as Goth Metal but they are nowhere close to being Black Metal.

Check out what Wikipedia has to say about them.

Cradle of Filth’s "true" black metal status has been in debate since near the time they became popular. Dani, in a 1998 interview for BBC Radio 5 for example, said "I use the term heavy metal, rather than black metal, because I think that's a bit of a fad now. Call it what you like: death metal, black metal, any kind of metal...", while Gavin Baddeley's 2006 Terrorizer interview states that "few folk, the band included, call Cradle black metal these days."

CoF is easily one of the 5 worst bands of all-time. Rank them up there with System of a Down.

He was pretty good, Stoner, but I think I'm more of a Jesse Leach fan; granted, I have only listened to very little of their old stuff.Â*Â*Overall, I'm more of a blues/blues rock kind of guy, but KE is good stuff.Â*Â*Stoner, you ever hear of Black Stone Cherry, if not, give 'em a try they're very good too.

Black Stone Cherry is pretty good. When I take a break from metal I throw them on from time to time.

Good man...I'm still not really sure how to classify their genre, but whatever it is is decent.

Hey, NC, you do know that Howard Jones is the current singer for KE, right?Â*Â*Jesse Leach did like 2 or 3 albums before he left.Â*Â*

This is Howard Jones.Â*Â*This is also one of their best songs.Â*Â*Called Rose of Sharyn.

There's a lot of good black frontmen for metal. The best is the guy from God Forbid. Here they are.

Well, glad to see you settled that once and for all .

Though I never liked system of a down. Never was a big metal fan though.

Well, when I was listening to them, they were always referred to as black metal. They had a goth following, but were always referred to as black metal. I don't pay much attention to them or any metal, outside of my ruin and nocturne (which recently broke up).

The bulk of the stuff I listen to now is accoustic, folk/accoustic, new age/world, and some more unique sounding rock/pop groups (tori amos and rachael sage for example).

I posted them on another thread a bit back but you may want to give Big Blue Hearts a try. I bought their album after seeing one of their videos (which I'll put below). They're a cross between country and 50's rock and roll. They are pretty unique. The singer has one of the best voices (it's a cross between Roy Orbison and Chris Isaac). They're not for everyone but see if you like the video. The entire album is fantastic.

Here's the single for the album.

Not really. I have a strong bias towards female vocals, and pretty much every group in the new age/world genre that I like is fronted by a female vocalist. Vas, azam ali, enya, savina yannatou, sussan deyhim, and sevara nazarkhan are my favorites in that genre.

Thanks, it's a pretty interesting song. But it's not so much that it's unique, it's just tori amos, kate bush, bjork (along with her former group sugarcubes) and rachael sage, the ones I was referring to, are all essentially in that group and very unique.

I also have a strong preference towards female vocals. XTC and phil ochs are the only two groups that I listen to a lot that have male vocals.

Check this song out...this is a band from Italy.Â*Â*They're pretty popular now, even with metalheads.Â*Â*She has a tremendous voice.Â*Â*The eerie thing is she could pass for a twin of my girlfriend.

I love lacuna coil. I didn't buy her new cd, but that's a group I picked up on when I was more heavily into goth music. Unleashed memories was the cd I thought was best, better than reverie or comalies.

Just from the selection I vote lamb of god. I don't hardly listen to them anymore though.
