Remember when I posted about Hillary hiring Sidney Blumenthal for a position in the Stat Dept? Remember too that I said he was a muckraker & I believed that his main job at State would be muckraking? Well lookee here, his job at State was scuttled by the White house. Now whatt'a ya think of that? :ponder:
However, if the WH believes this will stop the muckraking, then they don't know Hillary or Sidney. Hillary has had some of her authority snatched by Obama from the start, & she won't take it lying down.
Hillary will be a one term SoS.
You heard it here first.

Don't you think this is more heavy handedness from the WH?

No. State's been using its own heavy handedness with appointments as well. It's almost off limits to anyone who worked on the Obama campaign.
Hillary is doing a good job, but this is one of the drawbacks of giving her that position. She was a political rival and now she's a bureaucratic one, even if she answers to Obama ultimately.
Being a one term SoS is very very likely. But far from unusual at the same time.

I think the tenor of the news coverage of Hillary's speech has been completely retarded.
The SoS is overshadowed by the President? No sh**! :blah:

Hilllary, thus far, has been the least active SoS that I can recall.
But Blumenthal will more than likely "take care of that" in the sweet by & by.

That's exactly the kind of bullpucky I'm talking about.
Activity doesn't = high profile.
She's gone on major trips pretty much every month since she's been confirmed, but had to cut back because of surgery and a broken elbow last month. And not everything she does during those trips makes the news.

So, what about the "bullpucky" of Blumenthal not getting the job? Wasn't that an affront to Hillary? Wasn't it heavy handedess of the WH, probably Rham Emanuel? After all, Rham & Sidney worked together in the Clinton WH.... :ponder:
With Holbrook & Mitchell getting a big chunk of the SoS duties....

Is bureaucratic infighting over appointments something new? Of course not.
Is it more pronounced because Clinton was a primary contender last year? Maybe.
Is there more media attention the bureaucratic infighting because she was a primary contender? Absolutely.

Why is there infighting over Blumenthal?
"More media attention"? Oh, I hardly think so.

Hillary is living off of pride, and it's becoming her downfall. :(

Why is there infighting over Blumenthal?
Why is there EVER infighting over appointments? Personalities, ideas and agendas clash.
"More media attention"? Oh, I hardly think so.
Of course there is. In case you've forgotten, Hillary was running against Obama last year. So there's a lot of focus on her and where she differs and which of her people make it in State, and her limelight compared to Obama's.
It's gotten stupid because the PRESIDENT ALWAYS gets more limelight than the SoS.

How is she living off pride when her boss gave away some pretty important jobs that she should be doing?
Hillary Clinton is no shy violet & this will not beat her. She will come out of this looking better than Obama will at the end of his reign.

I KNOW there's infighting, again, why Blumenthal?
Running against Obama bringing media attention is not what we're talking about. We're talking abou "infighting", your word, & why the WH would not allow Hillary to hire Sidney.

The same question could be asked of a lot of appointments and general hirings.

True & if we were discussing "other hirings"it could be interesting, but we're discussing why the WH scuttled the hiring of Sidney Blumenthal.

So you didn't think that his appointment was a good idea, and when the White House "scuttled" it.... your complaint is? And with whom?
