1. The treaty of tripoli states America is not a Christian nation (this is base covering for me. This means that marrige is not necessarily religious, otherwise it would carry no legal benefits)
2. The UN states that marrige is a human right.
3. The US constitution, Amendment 14, states that all US citizens are granted equal rights.
So, here we go. If marriage is a right, and a non-religious union in America, and all US citizens have equal rights, legally, same-sex marrige is a right.
Marriage is not always religious. The wedding can be. Marriage is a legal union between two people.
It in no way undermines marriage, and is not a dangerous thing.
So why do people want to deny gay people the right to marry? They don't have to marry in a church if that scares you.
Marrige grants a thousand+ rights civil unions don't, including being able to visit your partner in the hospitol and inheiritence rights.
