There were reasons for Iraq
* Show middle east we mean business
* Protect Israel
* Gain Oil
* Revive economy
But to me, there's a heck of a reason not to: like Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it is destined to be bad for our souls. We're beating up on a smaller guy with no clear reason why. We're making enemies. We're perpetuating a US-Israel hegemony that has no long-term future. And there will be piles of bodies.
Seems simplistic, but I like it, and I'm sticking by it.
None of those reasons were the ones that the current president cited for starting this war. The war was started over lies and American lives are being lost for a venture in neocon policy blunders that could have been prevented.

Show me proof that this administration lied about Iraq please. My problem with Iraq is the way the president has handled it.

Anyone who looks down on those attacks clearly hasn't studied history. I know it might be hard to understand but any other strategy would have caused more casualties, at least 5x more. The fact that Japan didn't surrender after the first bomb has to show you how much of a fight they were willing to give. Not to mention that the Soviets could have gotten into the scene.

No problem.Â*Â*I'll start with an easy one:
LIE #5: "We've learned that Iraq has trained al-Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases ... Alliance with terrorists could allow the Iraqi regime to attack America without leaving any fingerprints." -- President Bush, Oct. 7.
FACT: No evidence of this has ever been leaked or produced. Colin Powell told the U.N. this alleged training took place in a camp in northern Iraq. To his great embarrassment, the area he indicated was later revealed to be outside Iraq's control and patrolled by Allied war planes.

Either they lied, or the were so consistently and completely wrong that we should never trust their judgment.... ever.

This war of lives is only going to cost us more and more. It is saddening. All the death and grief caused by corporate greed. War disgusts me. Especially a needless one.

Why didn't we nuke the Soviets, then? :)
