Who do you think will be nominated as the 2008 republican presidental nominee?

I think George Pataki has the best chance.

That's interesting..I have not heard Pataki's name in the mix yet. I heard Giuliani, McCain, and of course Frist.

Yeah, well I was reading the news and Pataki was secretly signing a law that is pro-gay so he could win some votes, for his Presidency Campaign, IF he gets nominated

Pataki wouldn't stand up nationally. He might place 3rd in Iowa, at best, possibly 2nd in New Hampshire (If Rudy isn't running.) but the red states of the south on Super Tuesday would chew him up and spit him out like they will John McCain.

George Allen, learn to say the name.

President George Allen.

We need John McCain. As for Pataki signing pro-gay legislation helping him get republican votes.. it might get him a few, but for every one who voted for him because of that 3000 would vote against him. I'm not one of those anti-gay people, but I'm just saying that people aren't ready for the issue yet. Remember the way bush bashed mccain for having a gay staff member during the 2001 primary?

If any of the religious conservatives get the primary nomination I feel they will be slaughtered in the general election.

Only if we're lucky. We really need a strong message to the Republican party that people are sick and tired of the holier-than-thou religious crap. This is about politics, not someone's overactive fantasy life.

McCain is the man to beat. His embrace of Jerry Falwell said that he is ready to forsake all the crap he said about him and toe the GOP line. He's going to be a good boy now and not irritate the base of the party with his "maverick" business.

Sorry bout that,

1. But the front runner is Governor of Florida-Jeb Bush.
2. The other one sniffing up his butt is, Newt Gingrich.
3. At a distance third is, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas.

None of CWN's suggestions is even remotely electable. The American people have been thoroughly innoculated against another Bush. Gingrich the Newt is a pompous ass, and Rick Perry couldn't pour piss out of a boot with directions printed on the heel and the help of the entire Texas legislature. He's an AGGIE, for God's saike!

McCain is the man to beat.

That's one way of saying it.

Another way is that McCain has no chance whatsoever of winning the general election so it would be damn stupid to give him the nomination.

1) I don't think even American voters are stupid enough to elect yet another Bush to the White House. I mean, wouldn't all those voters go to jail for life under current Three Strikes laws?

2) Yeah, like Noot would get ten votes in any primary outside Georigia.

3) Who? Just out of curiosity, once we were done electing Founding Fathers to the Presidency, once we had more than just the states on the Easter Seaboard, has there ever been two consecutive presidents elected from the same home state? I could be wrong, but I think not.

Let's face it. The GOP has people with name recognition but those people aren't anyone who can be trusted with the Presidency, and it has people who might be trustworthy, but no one's heard of them. When the Democrats were in that position, the nation elected a rapist.

Condoleeza Rice:

1) Has no experience as an elected official. That includes running a campaign.

2) Has stated often and unequivocally that she doesn't want to run for office.

3) She'd lose anyway.

Here's something for the chattering class of Republicans to consider:

How about if they focus on issues, find a candidate that runs on issues, and leave the hair gel, blow dryers, and skin sensitivity training to people seeking to lose the election?

Issues:

The Mexican Invasion. You'll have to talk against McCain and Bush here, both of them want to sell the US to Mexico....or maybe just give it away.

Government Spending. Have to talk against your own party here, who wasted SIX FRIGGIN' YEARS playing like Democrats. This is the A#1 reason the lost the House this time around.

Working Out a Plan to make Surrender Monkeys EXTINCT. Refusing to coddle them might be a start.

Let's find a candidate that will talk the truth about Socialist Security. Of course, this would probably cost him the election, but if they're gonna lie about it like the rest of them, what good are they?

That's a start, anyway.

Ok, I see your point.

About social security, Bush wants to reform it, and open it to Privates financings. You don't think it's enough ? You are like me then. Social Security must be 100% from private funds, and with no states organisation. And if that was your tought, you are right, I don't think Americans will accept that. But that is necessary.

What do youthink about Mel Martinez ? The new chairman of the GOP in january ? He seems to be Libertarian to me. Okay, he is conservative on some points (Abortion for example), but he dosen't want that state rule this point. You can be Libertarian , and conservative if you don't want that state makes laws to defend your point. And if this guy could advise the Republican candidate, you could have the most libertarian candidate ever ! ;)
