If the other rightwingers on that board weren't a bunch of namecallers who
thought nothing of using character assassination, smears, personal attacks,
and derogatory insults to make a political point, I'd still be at that board
and you wouldn't know me from Adam. When members were allowed to start
threads where personal attacks were launched and the only reason for those
threads were to launch personal attacks, I knew it was time to go.
Namecallers are namecallers and they never change their spots. They won the
war but they killed their forum in the process. A pyrrhic victory at best.

It was the policy of this board that made it clear that NO personal attacks were allowed that convinced me to stay. Granted, I am no angel but I try mightily to attack the public figure and never the person posting. In that, I am not always perfect, as every moderator here can tell you, but I make the effort to keep it from getting personal.

When I left, I let my friends know where I was at. When they saw the same
destructive attacks landing on them after I left and they did the only
reasonable thing: they left as well. There are five people here that I
consider "friends" that came over here with me at various times. Two agree
with me most of the time but not all. One agrees with me some of the time
and disagrees with me some of the time. One almost never agrees with me and
I can't tell with the last one because he's one of those wacky libertarians.
