I have added a time limit for post editing. You have 15 minutes from the time you created the post to edit it. The reason for this is because twice now a member has gone back and deleted their old posts. This is disruptive to the site and flow of conversation.

Thank you.

I was wondering when this was going to happen. At a different site I post at some people would post random things to stir up trouble then delete it. I was surprised when I came here and there was no time limit.

What about eliminating the ability to delete altogether?

That wouldnt be wise, the editing is for errors, spelling etc, or information that needs changing.

Removing that capabilitie would be pointless in my eyes.

Was that spelling error to make a point?

I've been on boards with no limit and no tag on edits, it works OK as long as you have adults who own up to what they say.

If you have someone abusing the feature then out them so we know who and what we are dealing with.

Well you can all thank Cameron Mineral for this. He wasn't mature in his actions by going back and editing his 47 posts into "...". Obviously that causes a problem so now we have a new setting.

Oh well it was inevitable I guess.

And FBM...boards that don't have time limits may run software that doesn't support it.

I hate time limits just tried to edit a mistake and can't. Annoying but I see why you have it.

Glad to see Labrocca is not mature enough to take responsability for his own decisions. Proves to me my decision to remove myself from Democracy forums was the right one.
I trust he will not have the maturity to understand partisan insult, disinformation, and smear by the likes of ECW will always discourage intelligent discussion on DF, especially when moderators delete responses to the insult and the smear.

Yeah fine Cameron..you win. btw...I am in the process of placing back most of your posts. :)

btw..it wasn't my decision to allow zero time limits. By default this software enables unlimited time. Also when I first installed the site the software didn't support time limits at all. The latest version has this and it's now implemented.

I already discussed with the staff about editing posts. I very much frown upon deleted responses even if they are insulting. I prefer we simply warn those breaking the rules. I want the minimal censorship I can allow but balance it with civil debate. That's my goal. It is the right decision for you to leave if you don't respect that.

You sent me a PM talking about your intolerance for the deletion of your posts...yet you go and delete all your posts. It's just baffling to me. And instead of contacting me about a possible problem instead you choose to delete everything you ever wrote here. That was an absurd move imho.

You have a nice day sir.

I can't believe this turned into a debate.

I appreciate the edit time, as I make a lot of errors and mispellings in spite of my best attempts, and then I can usually see them once they are posted and correct them. 15 minutes seems fair to me. And sometimes I say things meanspirited, and like the opportunity to remove those words or sentence. I have noticed over the last year I get some words out of place, or not even typed in.[hr]

So you have now moved beyond the ten commandments and are working on the Egyptian 42 Commandments. :lmao:
