MP Michael Meacher may make a bid to fill Tony Blair's shoes. Meacher has been an outspoken critic of the Iraq War and has also publicly questioned the government account of 9/11. Regarding the failed air defenses on the morning of 9/11, Meacher commented, "Was this inaction simply the result of key people disregarding, or being ignorant of, the evidence? Or could US air security operations have been deliberately stood down on September 11th? If so, why, and on whose authority?"
Meacher is only one of a growing number of high-ranking foreign government officials to openly question the "conventional wisdom" on 9/11. Others include Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, former Canadian Minister of Defense Paul Hellyer, Commander-in-Chief of Russian Airforce General Anatoly Kornukov, former German Defense Ministry official and NATO advisor Dr. Johannes Koeppl, and others.
