View Full Version : Christmas Tree
I don't do one anymore. Somehow this house got smaller. I put out my Christmas doll collection, snowballs, Santas and Christmas Carol figurines.Â*Â* Child friendly I think, anyway, at least the little ones thinks so when they come and like to play with the dolls or see the snow in the snow globes as they hear the music.
I have a full size merry-go-round horse that I bought for the wife that we decorate with lights. We gave our old tree to a community center. Happy kwanzaa!

Artificial tree here. We did an real tree for 3 years in a row and it was a pure pain in the ass. Have done artificial for 7 years now straight with the same tree and are much happier (both peace of mind and pocket book wise).

We got a fake tree. Everyone in my house is allergic to the pine, so it wouldn't be a very merry Christmas with everyone wheezing. [/align]

We do artificial, because we finally figured out that the real trees we were using caused everyone in the family some allergy misery. We get a new artificial tree every seven years or so.
One of the things that impelled us toward artificial was the time we were gone for a week right at Christmas...when we returned, the Scotch Pine tree had shed so many needles into the shag carpet (that dates it!) that it plugged up the shop vacuum trying to get them cleaned out.

You should post a pic, I bet that is pretty cool!
We do an artificial tree as I am an asthmatic. We have a nice tradition where I build the tree and put on the lights and then we decorate the tree as a family.
There are some really great memories there.

Real trees for life! When I was a kid my family and I used to go to this place and cut them ourselves. We haven't done that in 5-6 years now though. After I started HS we were always too busy. Now they just buy one at Home Depot...

Fake this year, real the last few years. Both look about as good and fake ones don't drop needles all over the place and have to be dumped someplace after Christmas.

Does anyone have one of those SkyMall trees that has spring loaded, jointed branches that fold up for easy storage? There's a full length tote bag thing for it for only 99.95 extra...

Now THAT is a pretty nifty tree alternative.
If you have kids or grandkids I bet that it is pretty popular! :)
