I went to the tomb of the unknown soldier tonight on the corner of Walnut and 6th streets in Philadelphia.Â*Â*I stood in front of the monument and read these words, "Freedom is a light for which many men have died in darkness."Â*Â*

I also read "The independence and liberty you possess are the work of joint councils and joint efforts of common dangers, sufferings, and success."

I cannot tell you how humbling it was to read those words in light of the next inscription that I read.Â*Â*It read thusly, "In unmarked graves within this square lie thousands of unknown soldiers of Washington's army who died of wounds and sickness during the revolutionary war."

The visit to this memorial stirred something within me, humbled me, and madeÂ*Â*me see the triviality of my daily concerns.

I didn't know there was one in Philly. I thought only DC.

That is impressive. I liked the first quote the best.
