"There are twice as many men with an IQ of 120-plus as there are women, there are 30 times the number of men with an IQ of 170-plus as there are women.

I don't know why this is, all I can say is that we have a huge amount of data."

Too bad. I know some smart girls, but they're all on drugs.

I don't think the IQ test results matter very much. Scientists have proven that men and women's brains operate differently. That so, perhaps the way the IQ test is designed is better for men.

I think taking multiple intelligences into account, some other testing should be done.

The Seven Types of Intelligence

Psychologist Howard Gardner identified the following distinct types of intelligence. They are listed here with respect to gifted / talented children.

1. Linguistic

Enjoy writing, reading, telling stories or doing crossword puzzles.

2. Logical-Mathematical

Interested in patterns, categories and relationships. Drawn to arithmetic problems, strategy games and experiments.

3. Bodily-kinesthetic

Process knowledge through bodily sensations. Often athletic, dancers or good at crafts such as sewing or woodworking

4. Spatial

Think in images and pictures. May be fascinated with mazes or jigsaw puzzles, or spend free time drawing, building things or daydreaming.

5. Musical

Often singing or drumming to themselves. Usually quite aware of sounds others may miss. Often discriminating listeners.

6. Interpersonal

Leaders among their peers, who are good at communicating and who seem to understand others' feelings and motives.

7. Intrapersonal

May be shy, but are very aware of their own feelings and are self motivated.

Types of Intelligence

This part of our website will be concentrating on trying to define or catagorize intelligence. As you can imagine, this is potentially a very difficult process since the world is not constituted of one aspect of life. That is to say that if everyone in the world worked for one thing, let’s just say being the world’s best weight lifter, there would only be one type of person in the world. We could either categorize an individual as being a good weight lifter or a bad weightlifter. Fortunately that is not how the world works; so you see, this is what makes today’s categorizing of intellect so difficult. One person may be a carpenter and be excellent at working with wood; another person may be a physics professor and be excellent at remembering formulas, and figuring out mathematical relationships. I would say that both of these people are intelligent, in their own way. But what does “in their own way” mean, and how can we catagorize someone’s intelligence?

Let’s start out by cutting one category of intelligence into two; Left and Right brain. You may have heard someone tell you that they are more “left-brained” than “right-brained”. What does this mean?

Our brains are structurally/physically split into two separate halves by the corpus callosum. This physical boundary sets up a nice way to describe the brain; left versus right side. It is known that the differing sides of the brain perform different functions. For example, for 95% of right handed people, the area in the brain that is in charge of speech is located on the left half of the brain.

Compiling all of the specilized functions to their respective hemisphere (right and left), we are able to catagagorize and individual as “right-brained” or “left-brained” depending on what features show up as dominant in that individual.

Left-
logical
sequential
rational
analytical
objective
looks at parts
systematic
symbolic
linear
factual
abstract
digital

Right
Random
Intuitive
Holistic
Sythesizing
Subjective
Looks at wholes
Non-verbal
Casual
Concrete
Visual
Sensory
Spatial
emotional

However, it was not good enough to only have two different types of people (i.e. left-brained or right-brained). This is still too vague and most everyone has strong-points in the right half and left half both, so it is hard to tell which half is the dominant.

The Seven Types of Intelligence
1983, in a publication called “Frames of Mind”, Psychologist Howard Gardner (pictured below) created seven types of individual strengths to help teachers and students understand the strengths of individuals that span the entire spectrum.

Let's assume for the moment men do have higher IQs then women.

Most men aren't thinking with the head that the IQ is supposed to be testing anyway :)

IQ tests are related to academic performance. They're biased (some tests more than others). They take various forms of intelligence (depends on the IQ test taken), and someone may score very low on some parts and very high on others. And IQ tests scores can differ significantly depending on the educational background of individuals. For example, there have been multiple cases of murderers who, once in prison, begin reading, attending classes etc. and see their IQ rise significantly. There was even a case not that long ago where they wanted to execute a man for murder, since when he committed the act he was categorized as retarded, but had approached the average score after spending significant amounts of his prison life studying.

Also, the person administering the test has an effect on the results as well. Having a woman administer a test to a woman, a black man administering a test to a black man etc. produces higher scores, on average, than a male administering it to a female, a white person administering it to a black person etc.

Yes,men are more intelligent than women as what your 35 IQ think so. genetically men and women are different, comparing an apple and banana is out of the blue.your question is like which comes first chicken or egg.Any man who got a brain will treat a woman like a woman not dare to challenge.Only men with manhood problem dare to do that making a point how he beat and punch a pregnant woman in stomach.a man picking on me..shame on you !!!gimme chocolate and roses..You My Man ...muahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

I wonder why that is. Perhaps because they feel more comfortable?

The main reason is stereotype threat:

The term "stereotype threat" was coined to describe the threat of being viewed through the lens of a negative stereotype, or the fear of doing something that would inadvertently confirm that stereotype. In essence, a person under stereotype threat experiences a host of debilitating psychological and physiological responses, many of which interfere with intellectual performance and academic motivation.

Simply dealing with a subject where a negative stereotype exists, even if it isn't mentioned at the time, is often enough to result one group performing worse. Though informing people of stereotype threat can significantly increase certain scores.

This is what I think, for a long time women where told you stay home and let the Man work to make the money. So Men have a long time in school jobs and the testing could be based on that, but I know alot of very smart Women who are alot smarter then me. And I like smart Woman. I was tested many times for my IQ, I have Super High IQ in one area and an above IQ in other areas. There are people who where called retarted because they could not pass in school but later on they became Icon of what we call Smart.

But what is Smart? Is Smart being able to remember alot or is it being able to know and understand a lot? When I was young I fell and hit my head and for years I could not remember almost anything, but even with this lack of memory I could still relearn stuff very quick. Not only did I know how to do it I fully know why it was and how it worked, after you learn that not math is hard as lond as you know why and how it works.

But for all the very smart Women out there keep it up.
