Is it NATO’s expansion to the East? No, this is actually US’ attempt to occupy EU! It’s well-known that USA is planning to place its new dntimissile system in framework of Anti-Missile Defence on the territory of East Europe!
Is it good or bad for EU? In accordance with analysts opinion American ABM aims solely at strengthening of US position in Europe. Moreover Americans hope to use it as sort of blackmail means to influence European decisions and openly press her if needed! The fact is that by placing of Anti-Missile Defence in Europe Americans will kill two birds by one stone. Firstly, they will create some limits for EU in creation of its own Anti-Missile Defence thus degrading European ability to defend themselves and making the gap between American and EU defence capabilities much wider. Secondly, Americans will be able to dictate their own conditions to European “allies†if needed!
Why on earth should we rely so blindly on Americans in our security matters? Actually we’ve got no guarantee America will help all of us in case of threat. Pols from Washington have already devided Europeans in this context. Eastern Europeans are better defended than rest of Europe. Living in Paris, which is not Eastern Europe, I’m feeling unsafe and uneasy. The major threat to European safety is Islamic threat, you know. Shouldn’t we better cast our eye eastward to Russia (bordering Islamic world) in our effort to guard ourselves from Islamic threat? At least that would make Americans wiser I hope.
