"Sir Elton John wants religion banned completely -- because he believes it promotes hatred of gays."

Considering he's speaking out against hatred targetting people like himself, I think he has every right to say something.

It's like telling a black man to shut up and sing for speaking out against bigotry in the 50's. It's an issue that is personal to them, not some pet cause they picked up.

Speaking out against hatred is one thing! Saying to ban religious freedom is another!

Bigotry should be abolished! White people should not!

He hates religion because, in his terms, they hate gays is just the logic Liberals say they are against. Am I wrong?

I didn't say I agree with him, but religion is used as a weapon against the likes of him.

It's not equivalent, but if a black person during segregation hated white people we wouldn't view that as harshly as if a white person hated black people during the same time, since one is being targetted by the dominant group because of who they are.

Again, I think he's wrong, but minorities tend to get longer leashes when referring to the dominant group, particularly when one is actively discriminated against.

Once again Zo, disapproval is NOT hatred. Disapproval is NOT targetting.

He has the right to say anything he wishes, but couching disapproval as hatred is dishonest and beneath your intellect.

Sorry bout that,

1. But SirEltonofEngland is speaking out against what happened in Israel, me thinks.
2. He is defending the Homosexuals to be able to flaunt down the Holy Streets of Jerusalem, Old City.
3. He wants those Homosexuals to have the right to wear a dress and saunter down the street in a Gay Parade.
4. So he lashes out at Three Religions no less.
5. I wonder if the Islamo Fascists will call for his head?
6. Seems he's attacking them as well seeing Islam disdains Homosexuals as well as Christians and Jews.

I do not run in circles with those who "hate" gays nor do I condone hatred of anyone. I do not feel that most people hate gays. I feel people disapprove of the behavior. That is a right gauranteed by our Constitution. I also do not approve of people who drive Foreign made vehicles, but never will I hate them.

Elton John is an entertainer. He needs to go back to entertaining! He hasn't done that in some time though.

I think if he feels this strongly about it, he should take to the streets and start a movement himself, and not blame religious leaders for not rallying to his way of life.
Let's see what he does. He has said he'll fight for gay rights, so we'll see if he means it or not.

I agree! I think though that he is nothing but an anti-religious bigot! He wants his rights, but wishes to deny people of faith (all faiths, not just Christianity) their right to believe!

This BIGOT needs to stay on the other side of the pond.
