There seems to be a lot of stories in the media about abuse to Iraqi prisoners and civilians. i.e the American soldiers in Abu Graib and the British soldiers beating up Iraqi teenagers.
So do you think it is as bad as the media makes out? Or are these rare obscurities?

According to people in the Army I've talked too, there are many few that do this, but you know the media dumb$h*7s! they blow everything out of proportion, so the almost every one of the troops does not do a thing, but its those few that screw it up

Well there are people like that, some of them are probably really prejudiced against the Iraqis, that might be the reason.
If they do it for the kicks, that's sick. :(

Prejudice is a mean thing, I just want all threats brought to Cuba

Think about it though, this is WAR. People do crazy things durring wars. Think back, if we didn't hurt a single person durring the World Wars, where would we be today?

Good point, but i'm sure it goes against the Geneva Convention.
i believe the prisoners should be treated the same as they treat our prisoners. Not necessarily kill them, but not make it easy for them.

America is not fighting against any country at the moment. Officially, the war in Iraq ended so there aren't 2 armies but one: the American army. So you can't talik about american prisoners. You can be taken prisoner by an organized army which is at war with your army. But in Iraq it's about terrorism.

I don't understand you. You talk about revenge here. The situation is like in this example: in Spain exists ETA, in the Basque Country. They fight for their independence. like the Iraqis. Let's say that the Spanish police catches an insurgent. It is like the American army would catch an insurgent in Iraq. The Spanish authority must apply the Spanish legislation so the American army is forced to apply the international legislation, as Iraq doesn't have a legislation.
No place for revenges.

It will give a good justification to terrorists , teat captured solders same way.they would probably say us army do it so why shouldn't we ? If terrorists act like dogs or pigs it doesn't mean that others ve to act same way.

the sad thing is that no matter how badly americans beat and abuse the prisoners and people of iraq, its still 20-25x better than when Saddam was in charge.

I think that the soldiers beat and torture the Iraqis only to get some fun out of it.I don't think that the soldiers are enjoying their stay in Iraq.

As of today (8May06) 108 courts-martial have been held by the US military regarding prisoner abuse and 98 convictions have been obtained, with penalties ranging from fines and reduction in rank to prison terms and dishonorable discharges depending on the severity of the offense. The military does not condone prisoner abuse for several reasons: it is unprofessional, it is more dehumanizing to the abuser than the abused, and it is against the Geneva Convention as well as the Law of Land Warfare. Personally, I feel that abusing a helpless prisoner puts the abuser at the same level as the "thugs" we were sent in to take out of power and resent having a lifetime of honorable military service tarnished by the actions of a relative few.
