One of them is the original and all others are his duplicates (Through Plastic Surgery)

Where did you hear this from? It sounds ludicrous. Also I think they DNA tested him to make sure of his identity.

Yeh, that sounds about right, I remember that when they did catch him, they DNA tested him three times, in different places, to detemine whether it was him or not. :)

That was the general idea -- to draw fire from any assassination attempts. Saddam might have claimed that he was loved by his people, but he knew better. Maybe the stand-ins can try out for the role of Saddam in the inevitable movies to come out about the war and downfall of the regime.
