Christina Merrida, Amy O'Leary, Elyse Doyle-Martinez, Alec Garcia and Bailey Micetich all hit safely as the Pioneer Lady Patriots continued their dominance of Golden Empire League softball with a 6-1 win over Marysville on Thursday.

Micetich continued to overpower the GEL batters with a four-hitter for the Patriots (5-0-1, 2-0). She struck out 11 and walked one.

Marysville (5-4, 2-1) was coming off a 3-1 win over Capital Christian, regarded as one of the Patriots' major stumbling blocks.

Pioneer will play Loretto at 10 a.m. and Biggs at noon today in the River City Tournament, which runs through Saturday.

The Patriots jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning Thursday. Garcia doubled and scored on Merrida's single. Merrida scored on Elyse Doyle-Martinez's double.

In the fifth, Merrida walked before a throwing error and O'Leary's two-run single. O'Leary scored on Micetich's double.

Marysville scored in the third on a triple and an illegal pitch.
