Hey, she got back $230M in taxpayer money stolen by the Feds from her constituents without building the bridge. That's what I would want my governor to do.

You should be worried about why the gov is taking that money from people who need to feed their families and pay their bills in the first place. That's the real problem. This is just partisan bullshit.

The problem with that theory is that Alaska receives a LOT more money from the federal government than they pay (http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/show/22685.html). In 2005 (the most recent year that I could find), they paid $4.8 billion in federal income taxes. In return, they got $9.2 billion in federal spending. There's simply no other way to put it than they're stealing money from other states.

Actually, that's a fairly common thing with red states - overwhelmingly they get more from the federal government than they pay in, while blue states get less. "Fuck you, I got mine" - the Republican mantra.

Either side talking about pork is ridiculous. In total we spent about $120b last year on pork. We spent 10X! that on socialism and 10X! that again maintaining our military empire. Politicians have people focused on the guy stealing change out of your seat cushions while they have you PIN and are emptying your bank accounts.
