I guess their marching orders were different back then.....

There are more female governors in office than ever before, and they are making their mark with a pragmatic, postpartisan approach to solving state problems.
In 1998, voters in a focus group were asked to close their eyes and imagine what a governor should look like. "They automatically pictured a man," says Barbara Lee, whose foundation promoting women's political advancement sponsored the survey. "The kind you see in those portraits hanging in statehouse hallways." They most certainly didn't visualize Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a former beauty-pageant winner, avid hunter, snowmobiler and mother of four who was elected to her state's highest office last November. Or Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, a badge-wielding former federal prosecutor and onetime attorney for Anita Hill who has redefined the debate over illegal immigration in her state.
While this year's political buzz has been about Hillary Clinton's run for the White House and Nancy Pelosi's ascension to Speaker of the House, women leaders like Palin, a Republican, and Napolitano, a Democrat, have gained significant power in the lives of millions of Americans at the state level. In addition to Alaska and Arizona, Michigan, Kansas, Washington, Hawaii, Connecticut, Louisiana and Delaware elected or re-elected women governors in the last year. That's a total of nine, the highest number to serve simultaneously. And next year women candidates will run for the statehouse in North Carolina and Indiana. A decade ago only 16 women in U.S. history had served as governor (four of them were appointed to replace their dead husbands or other ill-fated male predecessors). Today that number stands at 29. "The best way for people to believe in women as competent executives is by actually watching them govern," says Lee. "They find them likable, strong and effective."

This is proof that...
1. The press is lazy.
2. The scrutiny that one would meet as a Governor (especially for Alaska, it seems) is much less than the scrutiny that one would receive as VP -- shocking, I know...
And so?

Um, I'm not seeing much in the way of praise there. I see "Sarah Palin, a former beauty-pageant winner, avid hunter, snowmobiler and mother of four", which is a simple statement of fact, and "There are more female governors in office than ever before, and they are making their mark with a pragmatic, postpartisan approach to solving state problems." which is a description of the group, not her in particualar.
Even ignoring that, though, this was before the discovery of - what are we up to now, 87? - scandals that have made her not quite so attractive. And beyond that, even if she is qualified to be governor of Alaska, that's nowhere near the level of responsibility involved in being VP. She might possibly have grown into someday being qualified for a run (assuming she survived troopergate), but at this time, she's laughably unprepared for the national stage.

No one goes in the booth and votes based on the veep. The uber-lefties are simply taking every opportunity to NOT talk about Obama and who could blame them? But eventually, they won't have a choice.

Although she has been in office less than a year, Palin, too, earns high marks from lawmakers on the other side of the aisle. During a debate earlier this year over a natural-gas bill, State Senate Minority Leader Beth Kerttula was astounded when she and another Democrat went to see the new governor to lay out their objections. "Not only did we get right in to see her," says Kerttula, "but she asked us back twice—we saw her three times in 10 hours, until we came up with a solution." Next week in Juneau, Alaska lawmakers will meet to overhaul the state's system for taxing oil companies—a task Palin says was tainted last year by an oil-industry lobbyist who pleaded guilty to bribing lawmakers. Kerttula doesn't expect to agree with the freshman governor on every step of the complex undertaking. But the minority leader looks forward to exploiting one backroom advantage she's long waited for. "I finally get to go to the restroom and talk business with the governor," she says. "The guys have been doing this for centuries." And who says that's not progress?

Another perspective, and from what I've seen on this forum and in the general media a more accurate perspective, is that it's easy to admire and applaud the efforts of someone who is no threat. When that person becomes a threat, then their accomplishments can only NOT be admired, they can't even be admitted.

They do when the candidate is the oldest candidate ever with a history of health problems so the VP may very well wind up president.

Sorry, I have seen very few accomplishments. What I have seen is a bunch of failed policies, blunders, personal hypocrisy and shady politics on her side.
I think that's what other people are seeing, too. Your trying to spin it that "people are just threatened and so are making stuff up to harm her", is laughable. There are SERIOUS issues with her being on the ticket. If you can't admit that, it's your judgement that is in question...not mine.

No, I didn't - I guess I made a mistake in assuming that Boogy would quote the part that, you know, matters. I'm still not seeing it as all that high of praise - they got to talk to the governor, and, um, something about using the bathroom. I didn't quite understand that part.
Still doesn't mean she's qualified to be VP.

And more lefty denial. Again, the topic of this thread and its implications about lefties is being proven with every lefty post.
(I think it's hilarious that liberals don't even understand the irony of their own posts.)

No - but it does mean that she has a record of accomplishments that WERE recognized and even admired nationally before Friday. Once she became a threat to the Obama campaign, all that went out the window. Her accomplishments were then derided and dismissed, just as she has been.

My "spin" is my opinion and that is the way I see it. As to people making stuff up to harm her being laughable - have you already forgotten the story that Trig was actually her daughter's child that Palin was claiming as her own? That certainly turned out to be a made up story didn't it? Do you think it was made up and put into playbecause it helped Palin?

No. It was made up by right-wingers in Alaska who were upset that a woman dared to have ambitions outside of the kitchen and were working towards defeating her in the next election (Alaska is such a Republican state that she'd pretty much be guaranteed to be followed by another Republican governor - a man, as God intended.) They're now shitting themselves that they damaged their party like that...
I'm sure you blame liberals, though.

Do you have a source for that statement or is it simply opinion?
I haven't "blamed" anyone. I simply rebutted MFOT's assertion that my comment about things being made up to harm Palin was laughable. Things HAVE been made up about Palin - and they weren't created and aired for Palin's benefit no matter WHO was responsible.

Different marching orders indeed, Boogy.
Bottom line is she's perfect for the VP. The drooling, methane-breathing, bottom-feeding clones that are bashing her in blogs and political forums are irrelevant. They aren't changing anything. Libbies like to think they're making a difference in posting close to 80 threads bashing Palin. If it makes them feel better then go for it. Waste your time all you want. The only people you're convincing are yourselves. No one with an IQ above Forest Gump is going to believe the lies being blogged and posted.
Libbies are scared shitless they can't find any dirt on Palin. So what do they do? They do what libbies do...make it up. Then when that doesn't work they attack her children, talking about "what if her daughter was raped."
It's the lowest I've ever seen politics go. Every thread I see libs making up lies about Palin I smile and feel that much more comfortable about our chances.
It's desperation. Nothing more. What does lack of dirt on a candidate get you? 80 threads of lies and made-up bullshit.

I posted the first two paragraphs and expected you to get what the link that says "...Read More..." at the end means. It is MY fault you didn't read it? LOL That is too precious.
This article shows the very hypocrisy of the advancement ideology crowd. They loved her in 2007 when she was no threat, and now she is to be despised because she is a conservative who poses a real threat.
