I don't like it either. I don't want to explain to my kids why there's a dead baby on my screen. :(

Fine, I'll change it.

It's to make a point though, and it's not a real dead baby.

Well ya, but if someone had a fake aborted baby in their sig to make a point I'd be whiny at them too. ;)

Thank you for changing it. <3

i haven't been here long, and to tell the truth, i'm pretty unimpressed. I think poor taste is a reflection of a person's upbringing, and that's rhetorical, so don't take it as a personal attack. Humor is in the eye of the beholder.

it is in good taste or is it effective in speaking it's message? Simply a matter of opinion, yeah, and everyone has an opinion. I don't think you intended to post it to further it's original message, but to thumb your nose at others on the forum here. Or please clarify what you meant by it. personally, I think there's a lot of posting of copyright protected material here. Just because it's out there on the internet doesn't mean you have the right to post it for your intentions. Oh, I know it's about "baby" seals, but I think it would have been more effective to have a grown man as the target.

azzig, that had been my sig and I had used it due to the message. If you haven't noticed yet, I'm big on animal rights.

I wish you were big on individual rights for citizens equally.....

We would probably get along well......

Damn!

And I was just about to use a pic of an aborted "fetus".

Back to the drawing board!

I like your new sig, Zo. I guess I missed the other one that was a bit controversial, and I'm glad. Everyone here knows I'm sensitive when it comes to children, elderly people, and animals.

I try not to gripe at others' sigs, because mine is a little gross too. I just find mine funny and more of a disclaimer, rather than a sig. With 5 cats here, I need a few of those signs!
Purrs,

I saw the original sig and while startled, as an animal activist, realized the meaning behind the pic itself.

Zo, I had no problems with it; it was of course unsettling but the message was clear
and sometimes people literally need to be hit over the head with graphics to get your mesage across.

Never knew it was YOU who was the Walrus. Damn, but he has been around a long time!!!!!

:lmao:

No, at first I didn't.
I took it to mean that we're killing our babies like seals.
Thanks for clearing that up.

Prez, if I can find it, I will send you the video of hunters clubbing newborn seals to death with their mothers less than a few feet away.

To say it was unsettling is the understatement of the year. Anyone who doubts that animals are NOT reptiles and do experience emotions such as grief need only to wach
the "Why Chimpanzees Cry and Dogs Smile" documentary.

IMHO, how we treat animals reflects on our own disregard for human life as well.

I empathize with that view, sam.
I just didn't get the connection...unless it is saying that "some" animals are just as important as humans.
I don't know...maybe it's above my pay-grade.

Or maybe it is the fact that humans *are* animals.

I dont think the message was that "Some animals are just as important as humans" as to the total disregard of life, and how far some are willing to
what amounts to torture and cruelty.

Animals mourn; and mammals in particular mourn the loss their young. I lost my 17 year old collie shephard last August and my 12 year old collie has never been the same since. She STILL goes to his favorite spots and looks. The other two dogs who had only been with him for 3-4 years show no evidenceof grief or remembrance.

If you go into your User CP you can disable signatures and not view them. This way Zo still gets his freedom of expression and people who are offended don't have to see things.

Or maybe it is the fact that humans *are* animals.

Are you saying we are mammels? Or that there is a body of research that suggests we evolved from other animals? Or that we and the species that live in trailer parks are the same species?

I'm going to need some facts and links.

I am saying that we are animals. We are no more, no less than animals. We may have higher cognitive function, but in the end we are animals and deserve no more or less consideration that that. We kill each other, we make war, we enslave, we eat sleep and shit just like other species on this earth. People who want us to be 'other' are reacting emotionally and not logically.

Kudos to a great post, altho I would argue about the higher cognitive function of some of our politicians.
