The reputation system is back online now. In each post bit you should be able to see a number under the status. Click it and you will see you can rate a user. You can only rate a user 1 time but it is editable.
Please don't take the reps too seriously. Also lets try not to use them for flaming. If it's abused warnings may be issued.
Thanks.

Thanks..
I've never posted on a forum that has used this. Could you explain it?

Click on someones username and under info it will say reputation and there will be an option to vote. It's sort of like ebay feedback, in that you can give positive, negative or neutral.
We used to have one, but any person could rate another multiple times. Needless to say, some people abused it and started warning certain members for every single post they made. One person gave about 12 negatives to the same person.
I'm still confused......is this a popularity contest or are you rating the poster for his intelligence or lack there of?[/i]

Ideally for quality of posts. But, realistically, yes it's a popularity contest.

Well, I would say that doing nothing more than posting cut and paste without comment would be a very low quality post.
So should I make multiple users by using proxies to vote for myself, and get my friends to join to vote? If so, what do I win?
Personally I think this is a bad idea. every reader can decide for themselves what is good or not, and if they need a poll to tell them what to think they belong in the dem party, but they don't belong on a discussion board.

Sorry bout that,
1. Back in the day, when we used to have this feature.
2. I your highly trained Conservative Republican Political Adviser and Biblical Scholar, was the lowest rated in the reputation voting.
3. Because I tend to tick off the Liberals at hand.
4. And we got more Liberals in here than Republicans.
5. I bet history repeats itself.
6. Let the voting begin.
Regards,
SirJamesofTexas
Just as in real life............no one is forcing anyone to vote.:P
One more question........do you get one vote forever?

"You can only rate a user 1 time but it is editable."Hmm...How come Boogyman rates CWN positive, TWICE?
And how come CWN has 27 negs, 24 positives and one neutral, yet gets a pos 1 rep?
For that matter, how come I have 14 positives, 5 negatives...and get a rep of 11 instead of 9?
Maybe this doesn't amount to a hill of beans, but my mind is trying to make sense of it...

Chess has had two accounts here Patrick. He disappeared for a couple of weeks some time ago and then, and I don't remember the details, he started a new account because his login didn't work. After a while, if I am remembering correctly, his accounts were merged including his reps.

You can only rep someone once?!?! Wow, very controlling IMO. I like to give rep to users who are great posters. And great posters are great more than once!!

Moderators are allowed to give up to 2 points.
Does that help explain the difference in the math?[hr]

Yes I know, but I asked this question before I was posting at DP. Also their system is different than ours.

........yes but great posters tend to be good posters all the time, sometimes mediocre and sometimes just down right dumb......but on the whole they never really turn into "bad" posters.......if that happens you can always change your vote.

Well if you're liberal you're getting about 3-4 negatives pretty quick.

Complain to the people that make this software (mybboard.net). It's certainly out of our control how the rep system works. They used to have a rep system like you describe but for some reason decided to go this new route. I am ok with it. Often people edit their reps. I know I have given negs or positives and later changed my opinion of the poster. Also one problem with giving multiple reps to a person...basically the usual suspects can rep again and again people so they will have artificially inflated rep. So in a way this makes sense. Instead of people have hundreds of rep points ...they have 10 or 20...depending on how many active people are on the site. I think top rep is...Lily actually with 41.

Sounds like a smart guy as long as you don't judge him by his progeny.

Note: maineman has been here LESS THAN A DAY and has a rep of 9 after 33 posts? If that isn't reason to get rid of the whole rep system, I don't know what is. (no offense maineman)

So? I got a neutral that said 'no comment'. If you are going to give neutral rep, why bother? lol And I rep'd him because sailors are sexy. Is that a problem for you?
