Add another celebrity wedding to the books for summer 2008.
Ellen DeGeneres married longtime actress girlfriend Portia de Rossi at their home Saturday night in Los Angeles.
The newlyweds wore ensembles by Zac Posen and traded rings by Neil Lane, People.com reports. De Rossi, 35, had on a backless, light pink dress and her hair pulled up loosely, and DeGeneres, 50, wore white pants, a button-up shirt and a vest, reports Usmagazine.com.
The daytime talk-show host's mother, Betty, and de Rossi's mother, Margaret Rogers, were among the 19 guests who witnessed the couple exchange vows, People.com said.
Though no wedding date had been announced, the nuptials do not come as a surprise. After the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriages in May, DeGeneres announced she would wed de Rossi. The two started dating in 2004.
Do the couple want children?
"It depends when you ask us," de Rossi told USA TODAY in November. "A few months ago, we were thinking about it. I wouldn't want to say never, but at this point, it's not something I think we're going to do.
"But there are times when I think I'd be really selfish to not adopt a child so we'd share our life with somebody, a little child who really needs a home."

I think Ellen De Generes is a powerful and effective spokesman for equal rights, simply because of her intelligence and winning personality. I have more hope than ever before that we'll actually see the end of some of the toxic hate the religious right (and others) spew at gay and lesbian people.

Buck,
just because some want to preserve the "traditional" institution of marriage, (one that has been around for thousands of years) doesn't mean they "hate" gays.
Just because some people get mad when they see groups like Act Up go into a church and throw condoms around, does not mean they "hate" gays.
Just because the Irish community in Boston, wants a nice, peaceful, family oriented St. Patrick's Day Parade, without leather, leotards and condom ballons, does not mean they hate gays.
Just because some of us think Jerry Studds should have been punished for having an affair with an underage intern, does not mean we hate gays.
Just because some of us think Barney Frank should have been punished for running a male prostitution ring out of his house, does not mean we hate gays.
Just because some people want to take their family out into the "Public" dunes at Provencetown, without having to see naked men having sex out in the open, does not mean we hate gays.
And just because many of us would like to see some responsibilty and maturity from immature gay activists, does not mean we hate gays.

If you asked me which one was gay, I would have got it wrong.
At least Michelle doesn't have to worry about Ellen stealing her man, but if I were her I'd worry about Bruce the cameraman.

 She has probably done more for the gay community than anyone else I can think of offhand.

I'm not big on celebrity weddings myself, but I'm glad gays are marryin' their lovers. I'm anxious to hear all about Queen Latifah's wedding too.
