PALO ALTO: NEWS CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS CLAIMS OF 'BIGFOOT' FIND

PALO ALTO (BCN)

Three "Bigfoot'' seekers, including a Redwood City man who released a documentary titled "Bigfoot Lives,'' claim they may have the body of one and plan to release a photo and what they claim is DNA evidence at a news conference in Palo Alto on Friday.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, Georgia residents who lead Bigfoot-tracking expeditions, say they found the body of what appears to be a Bigfoot in the woods of northern Georgia and will join local Bigfoot researcher Tom Biscardi at the news conference, according to Robert Barrows, who is publicizing the event.

Barrows' name is known in San Mateo County, where he has made multiple bids as a Democratic primary candidate for the District 12 Congressional seat formerly occupied by the late U.S. Rep. Tom Lantos and now by Jackie Speier.

"I think you'll find that this is the real deal,'' Barrows said of the alleged discovery.

Whitton, a police officer in Clayton County, and Dyer, a former correctional officer, are not saying exactly where the body was found or where it is now, Barrows said.

Biscardi, a veteran Bigfoot tracker who said he went to Georgia to view the find over the weekend, said DNA tests are being conducted and a team of scientists will study the body, but declined to name any scientists involved.

Officials from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division said the largest wildlife they are aware of in the state are black bears and white-tail deer.

Hmm, me thinks someone was jealous of the Montauk Monster. Either that or the Nor-Cal researchers brought a lot of good Nor-Cal weed with them to Georgia.

Maybe...Maybe not. If it were a Loren Coleman or Jeff Meldrum involved, I would have no doubts. Biscardi though? He is a PT Barnum of sorts....but the man does have the funds and capability to assist. I would guess if it is a hoax, he would be completly ruined. We'll see.

Well......I always said I would believe if they ever found a body. It only made sense, so many sightings and never a dead body......but I'm not too sure on this photo.

Dan Rather and Mary Mapes may be behind this.

Well they are supposed to be having a press conference tomorrow. I guess they intend to release DNA evidence and photos/videos and intend to catch a live Sasquatch. I'm going to remain skeptical for now though, this one picture isn't enough to convince me. Now if I see scientific proof from scientists with respectable credentials confirming the current evidence or an actual live specimen I might not be so skeptical anymore.

I think the Geico caveman has some explaining to do.

It's hard to take Big Foot seriously these days --- previous hoaxes claimed to be the real deal too.

If it is indeed Bigfoot they need to throw it on a grill. I bet it tastes like chicken.

That would make one big burger.

Bigfoot Body Revealed to Be Halloween Costume
Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Last week's excitement over a supposed Bigfoot body, which culminated Friday
in a circus-like press conference in Palo Alto, Calif., collapsed like a wet
soufflé Sunday as an independent investigator determined it was all fake.

SearchingforBigfoot.com owner Tom Biscardi had paid an "undisclosed sum" -
Internet rumors put it at $50,000 - to Georgia residents Matthew Whitton and
Rick Dyer for their frozen "corpse" and the privilege of trotting them, but
not the body, out in front of TV cameras.

At the same time, Biscardi sent self-described "Sasquatch detective" Steve
Kulls to a secret location - apparently Muncie, Ind. - to check out the
specimen.

Kulls, it's safe to say, was severely disappointed.

The upshot? Bigfoot, once found, is now again missing. So are Whitton, Dyer
and Biscardi's money.

In addition, Stanford University anthropologist Richard Klein said Monday that he was not aware he had been identified as participating in the project and would not be involved in any effort to examine the purported Bigfoot carcass...

Meanwhile, Klein, the Stanford professor, said Monday that he was "sorry that my name and Stanford's name have been brought into this."

Klein's name was mentioned Friday as one of four scientists, two of them Russian, who would analyze the corpse. Klein said he was unaware that Biscardi had identified him.

He said he had been contacted by Biscardi in the past and responded to a request to examine bones that were identified as coming from a deer.

"He seems like a nice enough guy," Klein said, "but I can't imagine why anyone would devote their lives to proving the existence [of Bigfoot]. Anything has a remote chance of being true, but there is virtually no prospect of this animal being real."
