View Full Version : My Jenn -- Update

Jenn is walking on her own, and slowly relearning some things, and other things are coming back quickly. She has little "glitches" -- she had to learn how to tie her shoes, but she remembers how to do math, and she remembers all her schooling. She had to relearn how to feed herself, too. But she is well on the way to healing up. She needs more surgery on her right shoulder, but that will be minor.
She's been moved to a rehab center, and is out of the hospital. Her Dad and StepMom take her son and dog to see her every day. God bless them!
Ahhh, the strength and resilience of youth! She's doing so well.
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts, my friends. I cannot thank you enough.
Purrs,
Pookie

Thank you so much, Boogy. That stroke wasn't as bad as we thought, and my girl is such a fighter. I shouldn't worry so much, but I can't help it. I'm still scared, but not as bad.
Thanks again, Boogy. I appreciate you.

Thank you all so much. You all really don't know how much I appreciate the prayers and thoughts these past few months.
I am thinking that she will be back to herself in a year. Isn't that wonderful? Woooo! Her doctors give her a year and she will do fine.
I am so grateful that I have a stubborn, determined, strong-minded daughter who will not take NO for an answer. She's already beaten the odds. I talked to her yesterday and she said, "You just wait, Mom. I'm gonna be up and running and kicking ass before you know it. I am NOT going to let this shit stop me."
Go, Jenn, dear girl, go get em!
And I have no doubt, she will.
Thank you all again.

Bein' new here, I've had to piece this story together 'n it
sounds like you've got a real fighter of a kid there, Pookie.
She'll do well in life after this experience.
Thats wonderful news Pookie; her sheer determination alone is amazing, I have no doubt that she will indeed be kicking ass soon!!!

Thank you all so very, very much. I am so proud of her I could just blow up with pride.
For those of you who don't know what happened to her, here's what happened:
Jenn had just bought a tiny Kia Rio. She is a nurse in the Navy, stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. She was driving home after visiting friends in Sacramento, when a truck driver (who was drunk and on pills, we found out) crossed the median and slammed head-first into Jenn' little Kia. Then she was shoved into a Lincoln Navigator, and that driver died at the scene. They were squished up against a bridge pillar and Jenn had her seat belt on, the driver of the Navigator did not. I found out later that it took the rescue workers almost an hour to get her out. She was airlifted to Kaiser Permanente's trauma unit in grave condition; she was so badly injured her surgeons and doctors gave her a 20% chance of surviving. Her poor body was shattered. She also had massive head trauma.
But my girl has made it! Damn, what a lady. She's only 25. And my girl does kick ass -- she was on her way to getting her PA degree. I know she is going to get it, and I know she is going to make it!
Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers. This has been so very difficult for her. I appreciate you all very much.
Purrs,
Pookie

Good for her. I'm sure she'll be up and around and dancing by her next birthday (fingers crossed).
