I personally love ask. Unlike any other search engine, you can ask it questions, and it will tell you the anwsers with links. Google doesn't really do that.

I prefer databases to search engines. Search engines look for keywords in the whole page, so you get a big variety of answers; while databases such as Yahoo searches for words in titles of pages, so you get less results, but better ones for your topic.

Maybe try asking www.ask.com , when you ask them your question they search for it and like a search engine it gives you more better results other than google. If your question is the exact match it will say on the corner of the link question answered, AskJeeves has been helping kids doing their report and has been Parental Approved for kids(Kids AskJeeves Version). AskJeeves has not change, it hasn't been same anymore, but still works better!
When I couldn't enter Google.com, I used Altavista, but it's not very good. It couldn't find images well. I think Yahoo is 2nd.

I would say either yahoo or ask.com. Ask.com has a pretty search engine now that it has upgraded there engine
