Just wondering how many of you are aware of this elite club of republican senators who pride themselves for being on the take. To be fair there is one democrat who is a member.
I find it pathetic that these people can joke around and actually take pride in being corrupt, no this isn't a joke, it's for real, read all about it.
According to FBI SEARCH WARRANTS executed against several Republican legislators, Corrupt Bastards Club was the nickname 11 legislators, (including the son of Republican Senator Ted Stevens) used to jokingly refer to themselves. The legislators are being aggressively investigated by the FBI for taking bribes from an oil company.

Here's some more (http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/veco/story/8160122p-8042340c.html) info regarding the CBC.
Campaign contributions from VECO executives to 11 lawmakers, including Chenault, were detailed in a guest opinion article that ran in the state’s three largest newspapers in March. A 12th lawmaker, Senate President Ben Stevens, the son of U.S. Sen Ted Stevens, was also noted in the article as receiving generous consulting fees from VECO. Stevens has collected more than $240,000 from VECO since 2000.
All Alaska Alliance Executive Director Lori Backes wrote the column, questioning whether the financial linkages between VECO and lawmakers created “undue influence” over the state’s political process. Backes’ group supports a North Slope natural gas pipeline proposal different from the project favored by Gov. Frank Murkowski and supported by VECO, a heavy hitter in Alaska politics.
“It was a barroom joke that (was made) after Ms. Backes wrote her article about legislators that had received money from VECO,” Chenault said.
Hats were even made with the initials “CBC” on them, but “that was the extent of the CBC deal,” Chenault said.
“I’m glad that they can make fun of themselves,” Backes said Friday when contacted at the offices of the Alaska Gasline Port Authority.
The FBI wasn’t laughing when agents served a warrant at VECO’s headquaters and raided the offices of six legislators this week, looking for financial ties between the company and lawmakers, and documents having to do with Murkowski’s proposed gas pipeline contract and a related rewrite of Alaska’s production tax laws.

So true, that's why it's hard for the world to have sympathy for this country. We knowingly reelect a money grabbing liar, with an IQ of 2, who has no ones interest in mind but himself and big oil, then whine about high gas prices. What the hell did we think this retard was going to do? Americans deserve everything they're getting, from the mortage meltdown to four dollar a gallon gas, they begged for it. It's funny but I predicted years ago that in Bush's last year in office, oil would triple in price, him and his buddies have nothing to loose, they could care less if they're exposed as pirates..and sure enough....

I find it odd webwarrior that you still see this with seemingly partisan goggles on.....
The corruption I don't dispute one bit....
The idea that only one party is active, benefitting and consistently involved with corruption is entirely and provably disputable.......
The only valid choice for a person who respects individual rights come November is third party.

That might be because the republicans have had control of the Congress and presidency for the past eight years and are reponsible for the current disasters.
There's no doubt they're all corrupt, it goes in degrees, the republicans have always lead the way and have no limits, they could care less how flagrant their crimes become, they're blinded by greed and power.
Bush has been the perfect example of how out of control corruption and greed can get, the man is insane, he's completly disconnected from reality, he scares me.
The only valid choice for a person who respects individual rights come November is third party. Which would throw the election to McCain, the way it threw the last two elections to Bush.
Yeh it would work if everyone voted for a third party but all it does is offsets a close election to an underdog (or silverspoon retard)
Without Nader, Bush never would've been president..there would be no Iraq war, fuel crisis, a deficit, the morgage meltdown, and millions of innocent people would still be alive, who knows, we might’ve even killed Bin Laden.
The Bush admin is no doubt, the most self serving and corrupt administration in this countrys history, it a national disgrace.

I completely agree, Blueneck. One of my major criticisms of the LP in particular is their ridiculously unrealistic national ambitions. They need to pick individual counties, towns etc. where they think a libertarian stands a good chance of being elected. You need a grassroots movement before you go national, not vice versa. It's very frustrating.

Hard for me to argue much if any of that except the broadbrush label of "all republicans". There are a few (betting less than 10 between congress and the senate) that are seemingly uncorrupt, but both parties practices regarding election manipulation, gerrymandering, ballot access law manipulation, partisan appointments, etc that should be viewed objectively and without the partisan bias. I definitely agree about Bush.
Both parties are corrupt to the core, hence I think they and all their appointments should be expelled from office.....if objective proof and sworn testimony of treason, corruption exist.
I think its obvious Bush's actions are much more bold regarding executive abuse, and all of his and his administrations actions are current, therefore more obvious and pressing as compared to the arguably equal acts of presidents such as Clinton.... but both parties share a boatload of mutual corruption, and I find no trust at all in either to do the primary objectives they are elected to do, which is protect and enforce individual rights(Both parties are working simulatneously to erode different sets of individual rights), protect the national land from foreign invasion (which its failing daily on the Southern Border especially) and reflecting American intrests in foreign policy.... something its been failing for over a 100 years.
In short, I am not saying your wrong about a whole lot of Republicans....but I am saying there are a whole lot of Democrats with equal blood and treason to individual rights and intrests on their hands.
webwarrior said:

???????? The thing that threw the last 30 elections is BOTH PARTIES refusal to fix the election system.... voting for a Republican or Democrat to fix problems created by and for the benefit of Repubicans and Democrats is by definition patently insane.
I could care less who you vote for, its WHO YOU DON'T vote for thats important to me.
It should be as obvious as the nose on your face that both parties have been expanding government, taxes and losing efficiency simultaneously on both parties watch.... its provable that both parties are pushing anti-individual rights legislation. What more proof is necessary?!?
Yet you still talk to me of how voting for one or the other is going to BENEFIT ME?!?
Pardon me if I chuckle between tears.

As long as sheeple keep putting out and believing the "spoiler theory" it will keep happening.... the only spoilers involved are those voting for corrupt PARTIES who keep putting forth CORRUPT ACTIONS AND LEGISLATION, and POLITICIANS to be forced to vote for (more appropriately, forced to vote between).
You aren't being forced anymore.... the Libertarian Party has gained 48-50 state ballot access....

Really, what would have happened had Roosevelt not been our president, or Clinton, or Nixon, Truman?
Do you have a window to all other alternate universes, or just the anti-bush one?

There are many barriers for third parties to gain political momentum. Third parties often have to meet a lot of requirements to be able to make it onto the ballot in certain states. Sometimes they'll need a certain number of signatures on a petition or a certain number of votes to be able to reappear in the next election. It's a lot harder than it seems.

Here is a list of ALL US poltical parties.... find one you like and ask them that, or perhaps you could start one?

Last time I counted from this site, there were about 70 parties...
I would vote for 3/4's of them over a democrat or republican with few exceptions....

What puzzles me is.....how do these candidates pop out of no where, I never heard of Obama 2 years ago, and here he is. McCain the last I heard was dying from cancer, then suddenly he's cured and running for president. Is there some reason why we can't have a candidate with minimal credentials?
No wonder other countries are so resistant to establishing our form of democracy, look what we elect as our leader. Somethings dam wrong with our system when an incompetent idiot can jump in the drivers seat and run this country into a bridge.
There needs to be some safegaurd against hostile takeovers such as we've seen in the past eight years.

-NCEspecially since they are so anti-fed and pro state and local as far as regulations and such are concerned.
Maybe less ambitious offices don't appeal to LP types as they don't pay a lot. :)
I am very much in agreement with Libertarians on many issues, and quite honestly, if they ever ran for some office they ever had a chance of winning, I'd probably vote for them. Like everyone else, I'm not real happy with either of the parties at this time, and it's pretty obvious they keep us arguing over stupid shit just to keep getting relected. They're like warlords or something.
I think Jesse Ventura is a good example of the idea that you don't necessarily have to belong to a major party to get elected to office.

I worked for the (Libertarian) Peirce for Governor campaign here in Ohio, and he was on the ballot....If you're talking about the most recent election, I was so so pissed at the Republicans at that time I felt like I had to vote for a Democrat. Also, I voted for Ralph Nader and all that got me was Bush.
I'm happy to get rid of a lot of Democrats, but not at the expense of ending up with Republicans by throwing my vote to someone who's not going to win anyway.
I've seen (as we all have) the damage a Republican majority can do, and personally, I think it's worse than what happens under a Democratic majority. So I'm kind of choosy about my choices.

Again, the only spoiler vote in any election is the person who votes in corruption due to party label....
Republicans nor Democrats are "entitled" to your vote, and I think I can prove to anyone neither deserve it.

Who is the spoiler? Here in Ohio? Republicans have have looted our treasury, and one, Bob Ney is in prison for it. Ken Blackwell fucked up our electoral process beyond belief and our treasurer...well never mind.
This state isn't wealthy enough to take the chance of not having changed the guard in the last election. Maybe next time. :)

A vote for Nader was a vote for Bush and you know it.In my view, a vote for any candidate is a vote for that candidate.
Unless you are merely trying to keep the worst candidate from office and you wish to expend your vote on the SECOND worst candidate in that effort.
Fact of the matter is that Bush's henchmen and cronies stole the elections twice in a row through fraud and manipulation.

The Dems are right there getting their back. Dems have corporate sugar daddies to!
Lawyers, Health Insurance Co. etc... The Dems want to give tax money to the poor so
the dems can have a lot of loyal votes to keep them in power thus rich. The Reps
want to give tax dollars to the rich so they can stay rich of of exploiting the workers.
Their both corrupt, just in different ways!
It is us the American Voters (Not me though) that are to blame for election after election
Americans by and large vote for two parties that have and will be corrupt and screw us
over !! They even promise to follow party theology, which have just gotten us in to this
mess!!! And most Americans wakeup. forget about the 10-30yrs of REP&DEM history
and go vote for the lesser of two evils ! Thus giving American Evil leader ship!!!!
The funny thing is that most people can't understand why things are so bad in America !!!!!
