Sorry bout that,

1. But North Koreans no more have a Nuclear device than I do.
2. They set off some dynamite.
3. There is no way these morons could even make a nuke.
4. They lucky to have enough rice to eat.
5. They are trying to get more free food, and stuff from USA.

Dynamite doesn't make the type of explosion that was picked up just FYI. Also, the U.S. has ways of determining whether or not it was a nuclear explosion. So far even the U.S. is not denying it.

Sorry bout that,

1. But President Bush said this morning that we are still trying to discern if it was a nuclear weapon.
2. I'm standing on the side of reason.
3. Like I have said, N. Korea has squat, no way they have a nuke.

And what if they have a nuke? What does that say about your reasoning?

Sorry bout that,

1. But nukes cost.
2. N. Korea is piss poor.
3. Face it, them poor bastards wouldn't waste it down in a hole.
4. They would save it for S. Korea, or somewhere else.

Chesswars......the people are poor, because Kim Jong Mentally Ill put all his money in the military and to develope his nuke. But you keep on believing that he doesn't have it.

The koreans could have bought a nuke from Russia as well. I don't doubt it possible.

I tend to think they are BSing again, as they have countless times already. You never know though.

I would doubt it just from the size of the explosion. However, the materials for such a weapon, who knows.

I think they may have gotten it this time. They were close before.

How is this any different than your contention that we were going to see a nuke go off in the Lebanon-Israeli conflict of a few months ago? More unproven speculation, it looks like to me. Got a source for this North Korean dynamite theory or did you come up with it all by your lonesome?

I love days like this. Here is the article:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- An analysis of air samples collected shortly after North Korea declared it had conducted an underground nuclear explosion confirms the test took place, according to the office of the U.S. director of national intelligence.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/10/16/nkorea.sanctions/index.html

Now with that out of the way, let's look back on some past posts from a fellow poster in this thread and marvel in it for a while shall we?

Sorry bout that,

1. But I say it wasn't a Nuclear device.
2. If they had a Nuke, it was supplemented with some dynamite.
3. That's the only way they could get a radiation reading.

You can say all you want, the proof is there and you were wrong as usual. You don't just use dynamite to get the readings they got. That is why even the U.S. has recognized this as a nuclear test OFFICIALLY now.

Sorry bout that,

1. But it was Nuclear, because he failed to get his nuke to explode so he stacked in some explosives, to explode it, so as to release the radiation.
2. His nation isn't smart enough to have a real Nuclear device, much less be able to afford even one.
3. Sorry, I am not buying the story.
4. The President has more leverage, letting Pot Belly think that he thinks he set off a Nuclear Device.
5. We get far more political punch that way.
6. To instruct others to apply hard sanctions, to them, China, Japan, etc.

Sorry bout that,

1. But technically it could be called a Nuclear Device.
2. Because some radioactive elements did escape from the explosion.
3. Its wasn't Nuclear ignited thou, it was Nitro, or Dynamite.
4. But seeing we get more leverage for it being Nuclear, I say lets go with it.
5. It was a Nuclear Dud Device that was exploded.
6. That is kind of a Nuclear Device.
7. Dirty Bomb, what have you.

1. It will come out.
2. Someday.
3. But we can get far more mileage if we go along with Pot Belly's claim it was a Nuclear explosion.

* N. Korea Bluffs America, They Have No Nukes*

I agree with cheesywarrior. Obvious bullshit bluff.

I don't think North Korea has the resources, wealth or personnel, to develop nukes. Hell, I don't think they are even close to having a nuke.

If they did test a nuke, you can be damn sure they would provide definitive proof.

Well I guess the radiocative particles that were picked up, the explosion, the record and data that the U.S. has picked up ALL pointing to a DEFINATE NUCLEAR TEST, is all irrelevent right?

Something tells me that North Korea could have done a mushroom cloud on South Korea and there would STILL be some that would say "NUH-UH".

Face it guys, North Korea is in the nuclear club, and it was done on Bush's watch. No amount of spin and distortion can change that.

Sorry bout that,

1. But some people want to say hooray for the Pot Belly in N. Korea.
2. Some for their good.
3. And others for their bad.
4. I see this whole N. Korean issue as, *Some Poor Nation Asking For Alms*, but with a threat if you don't then watch out!
5. More of an extortion appeal than a real asking for help.
6. If they would just come out and admit they have a failed economy, and ask plainly for America to help them out, then we would.
7. But they want to sneak into out pocket book, buy using Nuclear threat.
8. Now this kind of thinking is stupid as sh!t, if you asked me.
9. But Pot Belly Kim thinks it's he best bet to get USA to fold, and start the food trains.
10. It ain't gonna happen Pot Belly Kim, you screwed up dude.
11. I suggest you back track, come clean, and learn to be humble.
12. China is now breathing down your neck, and you will find they mean business.

1. But N. Korea is really poor.
2. At least its people are, and need our help.
3. But how can we help them with out appearing to fold to its Pot Belly leader?
4. Its to Wild West right now to get involved with helping its poor people.
5. Its sad we can not help, but really, its way to stupid to try right now.

Chess, you're right that the people of North Korea are living in desperations. You're also absolutely correct that part of the problem--with being able to provide them aid and handle their nuclear aspirations--is that we're afraid of how it would make us look.

Isn't it sad that such important foreign affairs decisions are being based so much on egos? There are times when appearance is important in diplomacy, I recall the role appearances played with Russia during the Cuban missile crisis. We were cornered then, we're not there yet with North Korea though, so this isn't the time to worry about appearance over substance in diplomacy. A little less ego stroking on our own parts might just prevent us from becoming cornered with North Korea selling their arms to the highest bidders. It may not make a difference, but it's a chance that our present strategy doesn't seem to offer.
