Google CEO Eric Schmidt predicts that within 5 years, software will have been developed that will allow Internet users to check the accuracy of a politician's statments:

We are pretty close to that now. With a just a little search engine use we can certainly do fast research on statements.

No doubt you're right, for those of us proficient enough. I think Schmidt is saying there's something a bit more complex in the works.

One point though that is something all politicians should heed is to become better acquainted with the Internet and how it works.. it can be a great tool, or spell the downfall of an otherwise great campaign.
