Big freaking whoop-de-do. It's just about the right size to put the ashes of a failed political career into as he leaves Washington for the last time next January.

Today is President Bush’s 62nd birthday. The AP reports that White House staff celebrated the birthday aboard Air Force One, where they presented Bush with the gift of a “wooden box“:

The party for birthday on Sunday was informal; the gift was not. The staff presented him with a wooden box made from a giant oak tree that fell on the White House lawn in 2007. Some of the wood from the tree, planted by Benjamin Harrison’s daughter in 1892, had been sent to Texas to be fashioned into a box about 12-by-18 inches. They filled it with notes and cards from members of his senior staff.

It should have been filled with the bones of the latest child victims of the horrors he has visited upon the middle east.

That was very thoughtful of his staff. It's too bad you leftist can't be happy for someone getting such a nice gift.

That's a sweet story. A thoughtful gift.

They could have made it a little prettier looking though ...

They could auction it at a hezbollah fundraiser.

Not enough room if you count the bones of the ones that the terrorists have killed.

I wonder who paid for it.

Probably the taxpayers did.

What's funny, Zo, is that out of the whole big tree that fell on the WH lawn that the materials for this box came from, all they could get was a 12" x 18" box? What the hell did the rest of the tree become, toothpicks?

Especially:

2) 12-by-18 inches.
My first thought was more like 72 by 36 inches.

3) How nice, a wooden box, to match his wooden head.

8) He could fill the box full of pretzels!

Calif. group proposes George W. Bush Sewage Plant
By MICHELLE LOCKE – 18 hours ago

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A California group submitted a proposal Monday to rename a sewage treatment plant after President Bush, calling the initiative a fitting tribute to the outgoing chief executive and the "mess" he'll leave behind.

The Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco wants to switch the name of the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.

Supporters hoping to put the issue on the November ballot turned in more than 10,000 signatures to San Francisco election officials, organizer Brian McConnell said. The measure needs just over 7,000 valid names to qualify and McConnell expects to find out later this month whether they made it.

Do you have a point to make?

Indeed. You voted for the fool not once, but twice. I can see running head first into a wall one time on a dare, but to do it again for kicks after you knwo the end result seems a bit foolish to me.
