The object of the game is to keep your party in power. To best do this you must divide and distract the country. Then during elections pick a topic. Go for the most popular prejudice at the time. It used to be blacks, and women's rights, but today it is gays. People are most passionate about religion. Use it. It has always been a great tool in control. Try to downplay common problems like poverty, education, and jobs. We really don't want both sides to actually agree with each other. Try to gain control of all three branches of government. Without checks and balances your side will be invincible.
The players in this game have to fit a certain mold. They might not be that way in real life, but the public must see it. 1. You must be a family person. 2. You must be a Christian, or claim some faith. 3. You must always say what your base will like whether you believe it or not. 4. You should be white, and male, but if you are not, act as much like one as possible. 5. Your reputation should appear spotless. Money and power can cover some of this up, but if not, lie lie lie.
The rules of the game are pretty simple. 1. Fundraising, this is the bread and butter of the game. One of the main objects is to court as many lobbyists, big business leaders and rich people as possible. You need lots of money to buy expensive smear campaigns. Elections aren't cheep. The more money you have the better your chances of getting elected. 2. Always appear to be doing your job. When asked, always say I am working on that, or give some long boring dull distracting speech and throw in a few obscure words that someone will have to google to know what it means. 3. People are human. They make mistakes, but remember, this game is built on teamwork. If you discover one of the other congressmen has broken the law, molested a child, committed adultery, or anything that should ruin their image of a fellow team player, lie lie lie. If the evidence against another team player gets out of control, sacrifices must be made. Remember that everyone that got this far in the game has something important to hide. 4. Buy off the media. As long as the media is on your side, they will most likely never discover or deliver the truth to the population. 6. This is a game best played with two parties. Three or more parties will lessen your chances of full government control.
Now go out and have fun.
