I've briefly watched these people on this show. They have to be the most vicious group I've seen yet, when they aren't utterly silly.

In fact... Foxnews is now seriously over the top. All hope of fair and balanced was gone many years ago anyway, but at least they pretended better. Now its National Equirer status 24/7.
Media outlets -- but not Fox News -- weigh in on doctored photos (http://mediamatters.org/items/200807030002)

Summary: MSNBC and Editor & Publisher have noted that Fox & Friends featured photos of New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered. But Fox News has yet to address the controversy.

Wed, Jul 2, 2008 12:53pm ET
Fox News airs altered photos of NY Times reporters (http://mediamatters.org/items/200807020002?f=h_top)

Summary: During a segment in which Fox & Friends co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade labeled New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe "attack dogs," Fox News featured photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered -- the journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe's hair moved further back on his head.

On the July 2 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends, co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade labeled New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg and editor Steven Reddicliffe "attack dogs," claiming that Steinberg's June 28 article (http://mediamatters.org/rd?to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2F2008%2F06%2F2 8%2Farts%2Ftelevision%2F28rati.html) on the "ominous trend" in Fox News' ratings was a "hit piece."

During the segment, however, Fox News featured photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe that appeared to have been digitally altered -- the journalists' teeth had been yellowed, their facial features exaggerated, and portions of Reddicliffe's hair moved further back on his head. Fox News gave no indication that the photos had been altered.

After putting up the photos of Steinberg and Reddicliffe, Fox & Friends also featured a photograph of Steinberg's face superimposed over that of a poodle, while Reddicliffe's face was superimposed over that of the man holding the poodle's leash.

Below is a screenshot of Fox & Friends featuring the photo it used of Steinberg, with the original photo (http://mediamatters.org/rd?to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.whsites.net%2Ftalk% 2FpetPictures%2Fjacques%2520steinberg%2520new.jpg) on its left. Comparing the two photos, it appears that the following changes have been made: Steinberg's teeth have been yellowed, his nose and chin widened, and his ears made to protrude further.
http://mediamatters.org/static/images/item/fox-20080702-steinberg.jpg

Similarly, a comparison of the photo of Reddicliffe used by Fox News and the original photo (http://mediamatters.org/rd?to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.innovationsinnewspapers.com %2Fwp%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2006%2F12%2F27reddi.jpg) suggests that Reddicliffe's teeth have been yellowed, dark circles have been added under his eyes, and his hairline has been moved back.

From the July 2 edition of Fox & Friends:
DOOCY: And before we go today, something's been bugging me. A couple of days --

KILMEADE: Well, go back outside.

DOOCY: We will. A couple of days ago, when most newspapers in America were doing these positive stories about how Fox News Channel, once again, number one --

KILMEADE: Like the LA Times.

DOOCY: -- for many, many years. There was a hit piece by somebody in The New York Times. The writer was a fellow by the name of Jacques Steinberg, and he's been doing a bunch of attack stories on Fox News Channel. Well, there's some backstory to it, and that is this: His boss, the guy who assigned him to this, is a fellow by the name of Steven Reddicliffe, and Mr. Reddicliffe actually used to work for this company. He worked -- I think he was the editor in charge of TV Guide until circulation went down under his tenure --

KILMEADE: Right.

DOOCY: -- something like, 40 percent. So, he got fired, and according to Radar Online, this guy has had an ax to grind.

KILMEADE: Yeah, he does, because, I think, Steve, according to reports -- according to Radar and another online magazine -- he was making close to a million dollars here, and now with his new job --

DOOCY: Yeah.

KILMEADE: -- he's making significantly less. How about a tenth of that?

DOOCY: So, anyway, Radar says he's had an ax to grind, and that's why he sends his attack dog Jacques Steinberg out -- that fellow right there, the writer for The New York Times -- to do these hit pieces. So, he essentially is his attack dog. His -- his poodle, if you will.

KILMEADE: So --

DOOCY: Oooh! Very, very nice.

KILMEADE: -- Radar Online has unlocked the mystery. And there you go, because that story was oddly in the Arts section of The New York Times, in the Sunday Times.

DOOCY: Anyway, we just thought we'd -- cute. I wonder if he's going to show him at Westminster this year.

KILMEADE: I'm not really sure. We know a beagle won last year, and this -- he's dressed as a poodle.

Doocy and Kilmeade are just a couple of douchebags with delusions of grandeur. This is typical of the kind of "journalism" Fox regularly exhibits. And rightwingers wondered why Democrats refused to appear for debates on their network.

lol, I love it....actually, altering images is a time honored journalistic method.....

for example, here is the actual photo of Rush Limbaugh...

and here is the image of him presented by left wing news sources....

I don't believe this for a second.
Both those photos came from mediamatters.

Your NYT article says nothing about the photos, that I can find.
Find something else or I call a bussload of bullshit on this one.
(Like maybe the photo from FNC...just a thought).

Smells like the familiar scent of left wing propaganda to me.

Sue, you must know by now that right wingers cannot rise on their own. Instead, they can only make themselves appear taller by stepping on others. But, it does appeal to their base who lack cogent arguments and must rely on the same tactics.

Right... I know.

Those are screen shots from the actual show. But, just as importantly... this despicable act by Foxnews, while slammed nationally by respected media outets like Editor and Publisher and MSNBC..... has not been denied by Fox, nor any retort whatsoever has been made in response.

IF...this was a vast leftwing conspiracy to smear poor witta Foxnews... Fox would be screaming about it and using it to their advantage. Come on now. But, from Fox.. total silence.

No mention of what prompted the alteration of the graphics I see. These two have been attacking the Fox News Channel for quite a while now, these guys took jabs back at them. You may not like it, but this is tit for tat. I probably would not have altered the photos, but the NYT poodle boys weren't attacking me either.

Nope. Calling bullshit on that one, Boogy. It was a chickenshit tactic. You know it, I know it, FOX's competitors know it - hell - FOX knows it. Nice try, but uh-uh. Complete and utter bullshit - and YOU know it. :fight:

I suspect the Times attacks on Fox are littered with facts, something that Fox lacks in their "counterattack" which is why they had to resort to the cheap shots.

No, not really. I was thinking in terms of the apparent fact that you never let a disagreement or anything that you perceive as a slight pass by. If you'd really have let this pass, you wouldn't have found it necessary to comment. I abandon arguments when it becomes clear that someone else is absolutely determined to have the last word.

As to these picture alterations, they're so egregiously stupid that they reveal some of the intellectual deficiencies of Fox and the right.

Railing against bias in the news by posting material from Media Matters is like using information from Playboy to complain about sexual sterotypes in magazines.

If FOX did this, shame on them. That would drag them into the same pit already occupied by Time (remember the OJ cover picture), CNN (doctored photos of Lebanese explosions), CBS (phoney documents), NBC (rigged exploding trucks) and others.

If they did it, they should be condemned for it. Now, that aside, has anyone found a youtube of this. Everything else FOX news does is on youtube, is this? The evidence from media matters looks like a screen shot, but since it too is a jpg.file, it is impossible to tell just who did the idiotic alterations of it.

FOX may not have responded, because anything said on MSNBC takes time for most people to know about. Its not like anyone watches it live.

They have better things to do with thier time other than responding to every made up charge by some shameless left wing front group who can figure out how to use a computer.
FNC spends their time reporting the news, while these Soros funded leftists make their living telling lies about them.
This is their parasitic plan.
For FNC to respond to them would just ligitimize the nonsense and add it to the news cycle.

Do you think CBS would have responded if some nutbags accused Rather of being a mad man from Mars who wanted to give meth to our children?
Of course not.

Somehow I just don't believe that some Fox lover somewhere doesn't have a tape of that show to prove how wrong Media Matters really is. The fact that it hasn't surfaced only leads me to belive it is quite true and another example of the shoddy, so-called journalism exhibited by Fox.

The only problem you have with that theory is this. Who tapes news shows? I don't. I don't know anyone else who does. If I watch a news program, I watch it. I never tape the news, because if I miss it at 5, I can watch it at 10.

I don't have any interest in the partisan entertainment shows of any network. Why would I tape them? Why would anyone spend time taping news shows unless they were trying to prove a point and hoping they could find something?

What is clear from watching this clip is that two idiots were having fun taking shots at someone they thought was taking shots at their network. I don't know how anyone who can look at it any other way. Was it serious? I don't see how it could be. It was stupid and it overshadowed what may have been information that was informative on some level.

But to tell you the truth, I don't pay attention to squables between media, personalities, outlets or supporters.

This link is but one of dozens that are available.

Includes a video story on many different instances. (http://www.aish.com/jewishissues/mediaobjectivity/Photo_Fraud_in_Lebanon.asp)

While this story is about Reuters, AP, and US News use of faked photos. Though many of the Reuters stories had been run on CNN as well.

If you care to google it, you can find an abundance of information on it.

There was on a few months ago that showed a whole group engaged in filming a phoney street fighting scene that was later released to a bunch of media outlets. I can't find that particular link right now but it was amazingly interesting how a propoganda piece for terrorists was being made into a "news" story.

I find these things far more serious than someone poking fun at a couple of people from a rival network.

But even if we accept that photos have been doctored by other sources... you next ask us to accept that 1) this is a situation of "other networks do it too".. which I assume is supposed to make what Fox did... ok, since you refuse to condemn it and 2) some of you ask us to accept your declaration that these other networks or news outlets are liberal... which is an outright lie.

Your definition of liberal is anyone telling a side of the story... ie truth or point of view... that Foxnews or your other conservative sources are NOT telling. Criticism or opposition to George Bush, Dick Cheney, Limbaugh, Foxnews and other conservative outlets is deemed by you people as .. unAmerican, unpatriotic, trying to make.. bush and America... look bad.

You even go so far as to attack a person's faith or appear to condone that by your silence, calling them unChristian... if they do not adhere to your pov's or relent in criticism of the news outlets that spew your preferred propaganda.

In addition ... if any news outlet or individual tells a truth or pov about Bush or the horrific state of this nations economy, foreign relations, domestic conditions... you appear to feel it honorable and just that those outlets or individuals be labeled, smeared with any tripe available to you. :ponder: Your behavior then becomes not only illogical but closely resembles fascist demagoguery.
