I guess the latest 167 Billion Dollar war funding bill that was passed into law by the Democratic Congress last week must seem like a bit of a double cross to most of the libs here, given the Dems were "swept into congress" two years ago amid their vow to end the war and impeach Bush. Seems all it took to get the dems solidly behind supporting the war was to sprinkle the funding bill with pork and earmarks...
How bout it Libs? Why hasn't your new Dem majority in both houses ended the war like they promised? Hmmm?

Maybe the Dems heard about the Iraqi gov't "sending $$$ back to the US"? I just heard on the news that Iraq is buying a lot of weapons from the US. If they have that much money, why aren't the helping fund this war?
Sorry, I digress. I have asked myself several times why the Dems keep funding a war they said they would stop. BTW-they also promised cheaper oil.... filled your vehicle up lately?
Quite simply, they lied. Everyone knows in their heart (or at least the people with political power) that this 'war' is needed to go on for as long as it needs to, to insure the peace and stability of the middle east.
They just told you what you wanted to hear so they can get back into power.
Whats that one cat picture? I be in your government, taken ur money's. Sounds like a fact to me.

Because Republicans have enough votes in the Senate to bring the country's business to a halt if they tried and, contrary to the Congresses where republicans were in the majority, Democrats want to get things done. They pass their budgets on time unlike previous Congresses, they pass legislation and allow the minority the opportunity to offer amendments unlike previous Congresses and they do the people's business unlike previous Congresses.
Bush's veto keeps the Democrats from stopping this war but he'll be gone in six months and then we can make some REAL progress in addressing the needs of the nation instead of worrying about whether someone is wearing a flag pin or not. (That does seem to be the only republican issue this year.) Of course, if McCain gets elected, that war will go on for another 100 years and it won't make much difference what the Democrats do.
