BBC uncovers lost Iraq billions
By Jane Corbin
BBC News

Henry Waxman
Waxman: "It may well turn out to be the largest war profiteering in history."

A BBC investigation estimates that around $23bn (£11.75bn) may have been lost, stolen or just not properly accounted for in Iraq.

For the first time, the extent to which some private contractors have profited from the conflict and rebuilding has been researched by the BBC's Panorama using US and Iraqi government sources.

A US gagging order is preventing discussion of the allegations.

The order applies to 70 court cases against some of the top US companies.

Yes, fire the CEO. He is the one responsible for the mess and made no attempt to clean it up.

Fire yes, but how are you going to get any information when a gag order is in place? If it's not refusing supeonas, refusing to testify under oath, claiming exeuctive privlege, then it's a gag order.

I'd also like to add that it's not only Halliburton.......although I'm sure they are feeding at the trough more than any other company, but London's companies and let's not forget the Iraqi Parliment.........everyone is getting their unfair share and we keep signing that blank check.

I have no doubts that most of this money is in off shore accounts and soon as this administration is done, the Cayamn Islands will be hopping with middle aged men, both in business suits and flowing robes.

Fortunately....Bush has a Hidey-Hole:

Bush Buys Land in Northern Paraguay

Buenos Aires, Oct 13 (Prensa Latina) An Argentine official regarded the intention of the George W. Bush family to settle on the Acuifero Guarani (Paraguay) as surprising, besides being a bad signal for the governments of the region.

Iraq was corrupt before Saddam was deposed and it continues to be corrupt. Nothing will change no matter who is in charge. The only difference now is the US and its henchmen are the beneficiares of the corruption and not Saddam.

If a CEO lied to a grand jury; would you fire him for that, as well?
