Let me start off with this.

Placed in the back of a police cruiser, Marzilli said: "I can't believe this is happening. . . . She was flirting with me. . . . I was flirting with her."

Now, here is what "flirting" is for the esteemed Liberal Democrat

Marzilli's most recent troubles started at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, when, according to a Lowell police report, he approached a woman on a downtown street in Lowell and said: "Oh, baby, you're so beautiful. Your body is so perfect."

The report said that the woman turned around and saw a man, whom she later identified as Marzilli, and said, "What is your deal?"

The woman said she walked away, but Marzilli followed her and repeated similar comments, according to the police report. She became angry, and told Marzilli, "take $20 out of your pocket and go to Merrimack Street after 5 p.m. and get yourself a hooker."

As the woman walked toward a parking garage, she saw two police officers on detail and told Marzilli that she would tell the police if he continued to follow and threaten her, the report said. The woman said that Marzilli then put his hands in his pockets and left her alone.

The report said that about four hours later, Marzilli approached another woman on a park bench about a block away.

That woman told police she had seen Marzilli in the area last week "wearing dirty clothes" and looking "unkempt and possibly homeless," according to the report.

But on Tuesday, he was dressed in business attire, with slacks, a shirt, and a tie, the report said. Marzilli asked her if she remembered him, to which she replied yes. He then told her that he thought she was beautiful. The woman told police that Marzilli then reached toward her with his hands and attempted to grab her crotch, but she grabbed his hand to stop him and told him, "Don't you dare."

Marzilli then made a lewd remark

Rumored to be "are you shaved, or are you hairy down there?"

conitnued:

the report said. The woman went to a nearby apartment complex and reported the crime to staff at the front desk. Two maintenance workers flagged down police, who caught up with Marzilli. Police said the senator told them that he was flirting with the woman and that his name was Martin Walsh of Medford.

Marzilli ran down the center of busy Market Street, between cars, and in the opposite direction of one-way traffic, causing several vehicles to swerve to avoid him, police said. Officers caught up with Marzilli in a parking garage, where they saw him zigzagging through parked cars on the first level, before an officer cut off his path with his police cruiser.

Police said that Marzilli resisted arrest several times and that they twice threatened to use pepper spray to get him to place his hands behind his back.

Complete with a "do you know who I am?" like comment

Marzilli told police that "his life was over and that we were destroying him," according to the arrest report. The officers told Marzilli that he would be able to post bail and would be out by the end of the day, but Marzilli replied "you don't understand . . . I'm a state senator," the report said.

The police are investigating a total of 5 other potential cases where Marzelli did the same.

Hey...it's only sex.

Actually, it was almost only about sex!

The women said no.

wnd, you missed almost every good (meaning interesting and bizarre) part of the story:

Senator J. James Marzilli Jr. used the name of a fellow lawmaker when he was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trying to grope a woman on a park bench, telling police he was Martin Walsh, who is a state representative from Dorchester, a prosecutor said today in court....

Police threatened Marzilli with pepper spray after a foot chase through downtown Lowell because he would not put his hands above his head, according to a police report read in court by prosecutor Richard M. Mucci. Marzilli, 50, initially told officers his name was Martin Walsh, he lived in Medford, and was born in 1958. However, he soon revealed his true identity and told police, "you don't understand ... I'm a state senator.''

"The defendant began to cry," Mucci said, reading from the police report. "He said they could not arrest him, that his life was over." ...

Walsh said today that he has known Marzilli casually as a colleague for 11 years and felt badly for his wife, family, and his alleged victims. He said he was “disappointed” when he heard that Marzilli told police his name was Martin Walsh.

“Obviously I don’t want my name associated with that,” Walsh said. "It’s crazy – he could have used any name.”....

Police found Marzilli shortly after the alleged incident and he took off, disrupting traffic as he ran the wrong direction up a one-way street, Mucci said. People at a busy hot dog stand had to dive out of the way as Marzilli ran on the sidewalk, Mucci said.

The chase ended in the Market Street garage, where Marzilli had been darting in and out of parked cars, Mucci said. After claiming to be Martin Walsh, Marzilli told police they were ruining his life.

Though why does the Democrat Larry Craig grope women, while the Republicans have the likes of Craig and Foley who grope men and boys? Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Besides, we didn't send him to the u.s. Congress.

I'm surprised he couldn't come with a United States Senator. State senators are small fry, don't ya know?

They take after Clinton. Of course they're skirt-chasers.

Besides, we didn't send him to the u.s. Congress.

That was only a matter of time.

Because groping men just gets Democrats re-elected. Its only considered embarassing for Republicans. But after Clinton, I don't see what is wrong with this guy. Its not like he forced them or had them brought to him or anything.

What a world and it seems to just be getting stranger all the time.

Alan, he verbally harassed and tried to grope a women. This guy was also arrested for this earlier but the case was dropped due to lack of evidence:

On 8 April 2008, Marzilli was accused of sexually assaulting a woman. In late April, the case was referred to the District Attorney's Office for further investigation. On May 7, Marzilli wrote an email to his supporters, where he declared his innocence and thanked them for their support, but continued to refuse to discuss any details of the case.[2][3]

On 14 May 2008, The Boston Globe reported that Middlesex prosecutors were dropping the case for lack of sufficient evidence

On 3 June 2008, The Boston Globe reported a second incident of alleged sexual assault upon another woman who was sitting on a park bench.[5]

There are other women who have reported him going after them since this came out.

Also, groping men, against their will, doesn't. Grope willing men doesn't effect their election potential, assuming they aren't anti-gay.

How about taking underage male paiges on sexual excursions to Europe? Then being applauded on the Senate floor by his fellow Democrats when he was re-elected? Does the name of Gary Studds ring a bell?

And I know it happened a long time ago. But some things are so disgusting, they tend to stink up the place for a long time.

Studds was censured for that. But, in his defense, the page was 17 and it was consensual. The relationship was not illegal according to MA state law. It was immoral both for the power he had and the age of the the kid, but not illegal.

Also, according to wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerry_Studds

The standing ovation was from supporters back home, not congressman.

reagan, age of consent by state varies. At the time it was 16 in MA, though it's 18 now.

Look at the state list:

To this day that act is legal in most states, possibly yours.

That doesn't excuse the fact that he was re-elected. I think that is the most disgusting fact of the whole sorry episode.

And the age of consent had little to do with it since the offense took place in Europe.

I'm sure that there would have been an applicable Federal Statute covering such activity had anyone one had the interest.

Then what drove the feeding frenzy that is still going on over some emails made by Foley? He never had actual sex with the kid and the left could not have found him to be more disgusting according to their constant out cry.

What I found most disgusting about Foley is he wrote the laws to protect against the very thing he was doing.

For one Foley was in charge of protecting kids and was against homosexuality. Two, Foley seemed to be grooming them, writing about how he can't wait for them to be legal. Three, he was sending sexual message to children underage, and they weren't very willing. Four, he did it multiple times over a decade. Fifth, he violated laws that he created, Studds didn't violate the law.

Essentially both were bad, but Foley was far worse.

Craig could be seen to follow the example of J. Edgar Hoover. Foley on the other hand? Tough one..... maybe Falwell? After all, he had an unusual interest in children's programming and repeatedly saw gay people in them.

I disagree. I think actually having sex with boys beats talking about it.

But my original point is this. When Republicans do such things, they don't get voted back into office. They don't get standing ovatons and congratulations from anyone.

They are all pigs, but just the Dems seem to keep getting the blue ribbons of approval for it.

When Dems do it, their constituancy doesn't seem to care and becomes both their excusers and enablers.
