Aside from the sensationalistic title, this is a good read if you are an Eastwood fan.
Interview from The Guardian (http://film.guardian.co.uk/interview/interviewpages/0,,2283921,00.html)
It brought back some interesting memories. I remember being so amazed at just how despicable they managed to make the villian in the first Dirty Harry movie.
I went to see that movie with a friend and it is the only time I ever witnessed the audience in a movie actually clapping when the villian was finally killed.
I don't remember any controversy about it when it came out, but that is not something I was likely to pay attention to then anyway. In retrospect, I can hardly envision there not being any controversy over it.
Anyway, its a good read.

I read the piece earlier this morning. It was interesting. I'm not an Eastwood fan particularly, so likely what I found interesting wasn't quite the same.

I've really liked Eastwood's work since he has directed movies as well as starred in them. Unforgiven was a really entertaining western and Space Cowboys was fun to watch.
HE has a professionalism that really shines through in his films and the fact Spike Lee is complaining about that only proves it more and shows Spike Lee's unprofessionalism in the movie business IMO.

I would have to say I agree with you El. And I find that Eastwood's explanation of keeping his films historically accurate rings true, just as Spike Lee's compromise for such accuracy for the sake of political agenda also rings true.
But then that has been Spike Lee's shtick for a long time.
Hands down, the best movie Eastwood directed was Bird.

Spike Lee has always been a no-talent hack, and still is. Him hating on another's work is simply another example of him being a punk.
Clint Eastwood shouldn't even bother commenting about him.

But it was comment you can just see him making and the way in which he made it.

I always liked Clint, and that article hits on the key reasons why.
I think we could enjoy a good cup of coffee and good conversation.

I think Spike's views on Flags of Our Fathers is completely idiotic. However, I am looking forward to seeing how he tells the story of The 92nd Infantry Division.
