In the last few days, several people on DF have befriended me. I am very happy, but I'm not sure what this friend thing is all about. I haven't reciprocated yet, not because I'm a grouch (although my younger grandson calls me "Oscar"), but because I don't understand it. Does it mean that I can borrow money from my friends? Or do they borrow money from me? Anyway, can some forum guru esplain what it all means?:love:

Well you can choose to have content in your profile that only friends can see - maybe you'd like to share photos, but not with anyone and everyone.

Also blogs and other things - they can read yours and you can read theirs.

We've always been too poor for anyone but our kids to borrow from us, and they never did. What a blessed life I've had!:innocent:

Some years back, I let a friend invest a few thousand dollars in my bike shop, and it turned out to be one of the worst things I ever did. Our friendship is now repaired, but it took something close to 20 years for it to happen.

The "Friends" thing is just like the old rep system that Labrocca had in place. It lets folks (and newbies) see who your friends are and, by omission, who they are not. Nothing more than that.

It's the only Carolina I am aware of. When you get it correct, you may have some friends.
