View Full Version : Desperate in Seattle

Hi, I joined just today. I was transformed into a political activist by my experiences working for the Seattle School District, which opened my eyes to some shocking realities.

Where I fall on the political spectrum is a little hard to say. Most people would describe me as either a liberal or a left-wing radical. However, I've come to despise the term liberal as loosely synonymous with apathetic and spineless. I feel a much closer connection to the leftists who are making waves in Latin America.

Loosely speaking, one might call me a socialist. I believe in a mixed economy, combining capitalism and socialism, replacing rampant corruption with social justice.

However, I was born and raised in rural South Dakota, so I understand right-wingers to some extent. I even support a few right-wing issues.

I'm currently running a very unorthodox campaign for public office and am even attempting to create a new political party. I'm a major critic of George W. Bush (www.jail4bush.org) and Bill Gates (www.billysoft.org).

I look forward to some interesting discussions here.

Welcome to Democracy Forums.

We may have some convergent views, since I oppose US foreign policy and the corporatism/globalism that has swamped Washington in recent decades.

I am not too keen on socialism, except to the extent that markets are inadequate to the tasks...

I am sure we could have some enjoyable debates if you choose to settle here.

...and some of us like George B.

Welcome! I'm one of three Conservatives, still living in Massachussetts. We keep one outpost up here to keep the Kennedy's in check. :fight:

You should have a good time here. Just remember that opinions are like A-holes, everybody's got one, and they all stink!

Welcome.

I'm a pro-globalism, free-market libertarian.

I'm guessing we may be disagreeing in the future.

There is nothing wrong with limited socialism...just as there is nothing wrong with limited capitalism.

The problems arise when one becomes the basis for government, at the cost of the other.

Hi and welcome but If you fall on those lines don't think we will ever agree on a single thing but agree to disagree.
