A part of me doesn't like making fun of alcoholism, but he really does sound drunk in this piece, even if it's fake.

A good many people who seem to be in a position to know think Bush is a dry drunk. That's an alcoholic who isn't drinking, but still exhibits some of the characteristics of drunken behavior. That would be a plausible explanation for his consistent gaffes in public speech. People who lived in Texas while he was governor say that his speech and expressions were a good deal more lucid than they've been since he got to the White House. I don't really know, because I lived in IL at the time, and didn't really hear much about him there.

I won't comment further, because my strong personal dislike for him keeps me from being an objective observer.
